Quote The Dentist Wilf="The Dentist Wilf"As for the new lot, the 3 year bit interested me as well. I am told that they hope to attract a lot more sponsorship investment etc. into the club and they are already on with that with their mates so perhaps that explains the 3 year bit. But we could be in a lot of a worse position and exciting times ahead.... I hope!'"
Yeah. From what I remember this time last year AP was talking about that we’d only be attractive to outside investors once we climbed up the table and had renegotiated the lease. The lease is obviously something that’s been mentioned that they’re keen to get sorted but doesn’t seem to have been a major deal breaker for the new owners, at least what’s been said publicly anyway.
The really exciting thing for supporters is that there’s no way that anyone could come in and maximise revenues etc without major improvements on the field. If the new owners want to eventually make this a fruitful investment they’ll be just as determined for success on the field as the supporters. It’s not like a PL football club that you can simply do enough to avoid relegation every year and watch the money roll in. Nothing is a given in sport but on the face of it this seems as close to a dream scenario as possible. Having a rich sugar daddy would be great, but that’s always risky (see Salford and Koukcash) I’m sure the owners with their reputations in business will want to make this a long term profitable venture.
