Woolford is the one that stands out, linked with him last year and can't get into the Raiders side.
If he's third choice hooker at his club, at his age, then It's not an appetising signing.

Joe Cator wouldn't let us down in there for a year, whist someone better becomes available. Played there a lot for Leigb before we signed him and was one of the best in that position in the championship that year. And he played there in pre-season. Better than wasting a quota spot on an average player.

The NRL is miles ahead, just watch French rip teams to bits, he was an OK player at best in the NRL, Raiders have two very good hookers and are having a good season.

Have you seen Woolford play, good player?

Cator would be a terrible choice at hooker, we need some more zip at hooker when Houghton goes, not less.

Brad Dwyer had zip from dummy half and he was a flop. You have to remember that teams spend half of the game without the ball and Cator is a solid grafter in the middle and we could bring on a Balmforth or Hodgson to add some zip. It would save us from wasting a quota spot on an average player. I thought panic buys where what we want to get away from?

I'll ask again, have you seen Woolford play, because it sounds like you haven't, he is a tough player too, aswell as having a good attacking game.

Balmforth won't be here and Hodgson won't be ready (if he here).

We desperately need one, probably two hookers.

Agree about Dwyer, but you can't have a hooker with zero attacking threat.

Not really, He does't get much game time. I've had a look at the YouTube videos available of him. But they never tell the whole story.

My point is, would we be better biding our time until we could get someone in there that would see us in good stead for where we want to be in the next couple of years. Or do we give your lad a contract for a few years and hope he turns out a good en'?

He played 21 games last season, I see your point about getting the right player, but we can't really afford to bide our time next season, we need to progress, this won't happen with Cator at hooker, it would be a diaster.

Every signing is a gamble, particularly from overseas.

Mcllirom has got by being a solid middle hooker.his all career. He doesn't have zip from dummy half but he's tough and that has kept him playing in the top games.

Our big money has to be spent on a good half back right now.

We have Balmforth and Hodgson coming through the system and both at second team level right now. Cator is coming into his peak career age now. He would do fine for the time being if we strengthend other areas of the team.

Would be a shame for us. Because apart from his injuries, he's done nothing wrong for us. When he's been in, he's been good. Even our defence has improved this season when he came back in.

But it is typical us, getting rid of players when they're about to reach their peak.
