One of my greatest rugby memories.

Stood at the scoreboard end and the crowd went barmy. Absolute scenes at the end!

I have become , comfortably numb.

Oddly enough, all the way through that game I fancied us cos they weren't pulling away and we kept within striking distance but I must to being amazed at the ending.cStraight off back to Brickies to celebrate and Monday morning was erm , slightly unproductive, in the skips office at DJ Broady that day!

My dad took me to that and i remember the M62 being gridlocked and people in our car was saying we'll never get there on time then a couple of cars went up our inside on the hard shoulder and the driver said lets follow them. God knows where we went but got there 2 mins before kick off!

We did the same Seb, there was a long line of cones and roadworks galore, the weather wasn't too good either and my uncle Ralph, who was the posh member of the family with a Ford Sierra (We had a crappy Vauxhall Viva) drove like a maniac to get us there. Unforgettable night, my big brother Dave only got in at half time such was the chaos.

Playing in a curtain raiser for West Dock Ave juniors against Chilly Bomb Bomb (Chiltern Street Juniors) in Schools Cup, 62 I think. Winning then taking the bucket round the crowd and being told to Eff Off in the Threepennies. Got to stand next to my Dad in there though. Safer than the blanket collections at half time, I remember a bloke used to wear a mortocycle helmet and the Threepennies jeering him.

We played a curtain raiser in 1982 before a packed crowd. We were Boulevard Juniour High against Hall Road. The crowd cheered for Hall Road as they were in black and white hooped jerseys while we were in all black, they won 8-6 as they had a lad whose kicks actually rose above two feet.

Anyone remember the collections for Hull City? When we were asked by Arthur Bunting to go their home game? We went, as did a good few hundred others and all through the match they sang "Come cos of Arthur, we've only come cos of Arthur" - one wonders if the present City administration would return the favour , should it be needed.

Another memorable moment was at home to the then Mighty Wigan, in a tense game, with literally the last kick of the game, Joe Lydon attempted a long penalty kick, to effectively close out the game in Wigan's favour. It fell short and was taken by Gary Pearce, who ran the ball back, easily seeming to evading tacklers, eventually ,passing the ball on to a rampaging Kevin Dick who ran on and gave the ball to Paul Macaffery to score and win us the game, in miraculous circumstances. We went barmy in the stands and Wigan were dumbstruck in disbelief. That game I believe saw Terry Reagan poleaxed by their prop Adrian Shelford, Reagan left the field after being concussed, only to return as a second half substitute. We could certainly do with players of his character now, he was granite.

Anyone who has watch FC for a few decades will agree with you that it was the greatest end to an FC game ever miraculous was the word for it. Personally the ending at Catalan a couple of seasons ago when we won with a drop goal in golden point and when Sneyd won the match single handedly was another we will all remember in years to come too. Catalan scored to draw two points ahead with only a minute to go and from the kick off Sneyd kicked it so finely for just ten yards they couldn't judge it and touched it when it was coming down just short and were off side and Sneyd landed a fifty yard penalty from the centre spot on the hooter to level it up. Then he kicked off golden point and somehow managed to find touch and from the ensuing scrum he dropped a goal to win the game. Once again almost miraculous.

If I hadn’t actually seen the ending to that Catalan game, I wouldn’t have believed it!
Unbelievable.

There was another game I seem to remember. Think it was against Halifax at the Boulevard. We were in the depths of a relegation battle (David Lloyd era).
We were getting well beat, but decided to mount a second half fightback. We had a try disallowed right at the end, that would have given us the win. Halifax than knocked on, and from the scrum Hallas (I think) scored from a Horne (I think) kick through.
Again , absolute scenes.
Apologies if some of the details are incorrect.
What I do remember is that it was a bright moment in a rubbish season!

Another game I recall was the Championship final at Maine Road during the 50's when Colin Hutton grabbed the ball, built himself a mound of sand and proceeded to kick the match winning goal, from the touchline and right on time!! As a teenager that memory has stuck with me all this time and I'm approaching 80.

Thanks Wilf! The disallowed try maybe came from the kick through?

Also remember Michael Smith had a good game for us (second half) that day.
One and only time I think!

Think it was Mark Johnson in the corner but was adjudged to have been in touch.
Horne kicked through early in the tackle count for Hallas to score. Had we lost that we were pretty much down.
