The Sky commentators have an inherent bias, even though they’ll deny it.
Doesn’t McDermott work for Leeds still?
And O’Connors son plays there. Both ex Wigan players as well.

If you were a casual fan, you wouldn’t notice the poor coverage, but the majority of those watching RL on Sky will be genuine fans of the game, and they can see it for what it is.

Sky will just try and provide the coverage as cheaply as possible, hence Bill Arthur being the main commentator.

Good point about lack of representation on SKY, maybe the club could push for a media friendly player who is injured or ex player to appear. McRae used to be on a lot back in the day, and Kear clearly still loves us when on BBC but as you say apart from that we get little from the pundits. Not that there is much to praise right now!

The problem is they'll argue that Hull have had 2 ex players as a studio guest this season in Radford & Leon Pryce. They'll forget to mention Lee did the FC/Castleford game - he's coaching Cas next season & already working with the Cas board & team. Leon then did the Huddersfied game - his son just happens to play for them.

You are correct re inherent bias. Stevo had no time for Hull ever since his merc was keyed in the car park.
I remember the following week when he was presenting, Hull scored and he actually said....Throw me a bucket!

And Leon celebrated when his son scored, but that was understandable. :D

Shame they haven’t had Jamie Shaul on. I think it’s nice when they have a player on who’s out with a long term injury. Keeps them involved and always nice to get a player’s perspective on the game.

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?

Johnstone gets a 1 match ban.

Sao - "Initial contact is with the upper arm and back of opponent and rides up over the head of the opponent." NFA

Does that mean he shouldn't have been yellow carded?

Yes we had a dig but digs just aren't good enough over the 80 mins and its been happening for far too long now especially when AP claims we are in the top 3 in terms of SL salaries.

Officials are never going to be 100% correct but what really stood out last night was the difference in how Childs policed the offside and infringements around the ptb between both teams. We were guilty of a lot but as I said St's were no better in anyway with holding down, laying on, hands on the ball, not square and the amount of time they failed to get onside or make any attempt to do so yet Child ignored that. Ligi was penalised for leading with a raised arm yet Walmsley lead with his knees and elbows on several occasions and nothing seen. So the odd miss by an official here and there is to be expected but the 6 again in particular was just a farce and the difference in how he judged that between both sides was like night and day even when we'd gathered momentum so that made no difference.

Think child’s & fc created a SL record total of 6 agains.
Some of them were down right baffling

this is also baffling Hodgsons comment

I thought there was much more to like in tonight’s performance than there was on Thursday (in the defeat against Leeds).

We are still working to be more clinically offensively but we were in the contest and had Bureta (Faraimo) scored in the corner, it would have been a different result. Not necessarily a win but a lot closer than it was.

So yeah, disappointed but at the same time, plenty to like in that performance.

well as fans we didnt see anything different or in fact anything to like in the performance apart from Big Chris Satae.
No mention of our biggest problem once again the poor discipline of the team
The loss of Johnstone for sunday is no miss.
Had Shaul been playing nine he would have been on the shoulder of Satae last night when he made the break down the middle
The sooner he if fit the better

I know now why FC are not living up to fans expectations. Refs are biased and incompetent. Players cannot run fast enough. To make matters worse Sky commentators are anti FC and there are no guests that have sufficient FC credibility. Life is certainly hard in the west.

Apart from
“Our discipline cost us tonight, and we weren’t strong enough to defend what comes with that. Going down to 12 men against a fresh St Helens team was always going to hurt, and conceding as many points as we did towards the end was frustrating.

I can see what he means. I thought we had more energy, in the second half especially, than Thursday and I also thought we asked more questions defensively of Saints than we did of Leeds.
Up until the sin binning we looked like we could at least have a crack at getting something out of the game whereas on Thursday we never looked in after half time.
Neither were great performances but I don't believe his comments are as baffling as you make out.
Also what do you expect coaches to say to the media? They are hardly going be uber negative to the press are they.
