Isn't Raynor an out-and-out left winger?

Might have to be a bit more of a shuffle.

I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

Think Raynor will come back in once fit and Briscoe will fight out for a centre spot with Graham Horne. Upshot of it all is that if they all have to perform on a weekly basis to get a spot in the 17.

Totally agree. Having Briscoe as a right centre imo will also play to his strengths and i can see Calderwoods service increasing. Briscoe has a better ability than G Horne to draw men in and then slip a pass out from what ive seen of him and his upper body strength.

As already mentioned, Raynor and Calderwood are our first choice wingers. If anyone is going to be replaced by Raynor then it is Briscoe. Calderwood isn't getting the opportunities to show what he is capable of, but still shouldn't be dropped, anyone playing on that right wing atm wouldn't get the chance to show what they can do.

How long before this lad starts wearing red underpants over his clothes?

Seriously, not decrying his efforts as he's obviously doing very well, but I really get the feeling that he's being pushed further along the line of being built up and then destroyed if he suffers a slip (wouldn't that make a change? ). God help him if he moves to centre and doesn't immediately look like an English Greg Inglis with him and Calderwood scoring a hat trick each every week.

Indeed!

Although we also need to think 'what if we move him to centre and he does look like Inglis every week'

I'm not saying don't give the chance, I just think it's about time some people started to be a bit careful with how much they're expecting of him (hint hint  ).

The fact is he's only played centre against relatively lesser opposition. Despite this he seems to be being painted as almost guaranteed to make the transition at SL level flawlessly, when actually the likelihood is that he may appear to go slightly backwards when it initially happens.

Much like Craig Hall really. He now seems to have been almost written off as a centre by many because he has a few defensive issues and Briscoe has looked good on the wing. For all we know Briscoe may show similar positional and decision-making frailties at first, it's a much more difficult proposition to defend in the centres than on the wing IMO.

I just don't understand the apparent culture amongst our fans of labelling young kids as world class within 20 games, only to turn around and say get rid he's useless by 40. There seems to be absolutely no understanding/tolerance of learning curves.

All depends on who is playing well and who is fit when Raynor returns, right now it would be Calderwood to be left out, he has not done anything wrong but Briscoe has offered more from dumy half so would get my vote.

When have you ever seen him do this? I'm not saying he cant but we've yet to see it.
