Am told basically they took a feed from main and made it a bit longer than they should have instead of doing a straight feed pipe which resulted in loss of pressure. This was simply changed to rectify it.

I know you've stated "basically" but I find that explanation a bit hard to believe.

The excavation is pretty small and the issue is sorted so it will have been pretty minor. I was was expecting the entire car park to be dug up.

Why would you need to dig the entire car park up to replace 1 pipe? A single trench 1200mm wide by 1200mm deep was all that was needed

Well this thread makes for an entertaining change to the usual; instead of everyone thinking they are a SL coach, everyone now thinks they are a Civil Engineer ;)

My fears was the main to the ground from the boundary needed upsizing. Fortunately not.

Just an innocent comment. :CHILL:

We must have literally miles of that blue pipework running towns water under my workplace and length of pipework has never been an issue from one end to the other, as long as the mains pressure is fine. We are restricted to a certain maximum flow by Yorkshire Water so we don't starve the local residents.

Whatever.
