DONT TOUCH THE WATCH

Re: Versus Fev : Sun Jan 23, 2022 5:07 pm
Friendly or no friendly losing against a semi professional team is not acceptable in my opinion. Our lack of discipline was atrocious and our contact was soft too much. Out enthused and sadly out muscled. Really disappointing

Fev played like they wanted to win, we played like it was a friendly knock about.
Some wild passes, strange decisions and poor discipline.

It was a friendly knock about. Always good to win, but losing a friendly gives us plenty to work on.

It wasn't a friendly knock about.
It was a friendly where we had the opportunity to run game plans, see how far we have to go and get people fitter.

There were good things in the game but I felt our attack was stunted.

The result isn't a problem, but there is definitely work to do.

Whilst I understand it was only a friendly there were some worrying things about that performance.

Our edges got dominated by 2 veterans well past their best in Moores and Seni Lafao. Physically we were not on the same level as Fev and we do look very light across the pitch apart from Fafita.

The lack of enthusiasm was a concern and it only seemed to be when we subbed on the younger lads in the last 20 that they brought a bit of spark to the team.

Miller and Gaskill didn’t really gel at all and Hood didn’t have a great game around the ruck making some poor choices particularly after we had made a break.

Lineham looks a stone overweight to the detriment of his pace however Hall I thought went well again in the centre.

Not acceptable to turn up with a poor attitude even if it was a friendly.

Well that has either bundled up all our rubbish and let it out at Fev or confirmed that when faced with a poor team we can always win the race to the bottom.
In the 80 minutes we managed one piece of rugby when the superb pass from Gaskell put in Bachelor and Max's 3 superb conversions. But Miller's headless chicken routine resurfaced and Ashurst must wonder why he puts himself in place to be constantly whacked from the suicide passes he receives.
Fafita has got to put his brother's injury behind him or he will become a soft touch for opposition getting him sent off or binned.
On the positive side, it can only get better, in fact, a Covid abandonment would probably make better watching.

Am sorry PT there wasnt anthing good in that other than it was a friendly dont want to seem negative as it was that a friendly but we carry on that way we wont win a game and im not saying it will but today was poor in every department.

How much should we read into a friendly game ?
Fev were deserved winners, no question and not too many plusses, other than everyone got some minutes into their legs.
Gaskill and Miller in the halves wont frighten anyone and the best that we can say for our pack is that hopefully they are saving themselves.
On the plus side, there is PLENTY to work on.

Re: Versus Fev : Sun Jan 23, 2022 5:29 pm
Thought our discipline was poor. Hoods offence on the 5th tackle was very poor and Dave's retaliation was also a poor response in possession making yards and we give away a penalty and another sinbinning.
That said it was a full on game and Fev really gave it to us. When we scored on half time going uphill putting us 4 behind I thought we would win comfortably with the slope but some poor play and options really cost us a lot of possession and territory.
