Friday Lunch return The Friday lunch at BV is again being served this coming Friday. I believe entry from 11.30 am, Lunch served @ 12.00. Bookings taken at the Trinity shop. A welcome return to this enjoyable event.
Quite a good attendance today, considering it was the first time since the start of Covid last year, I would estimate about 40 people in attendance.,the meal was good as was the table service. The guest speaker was young Jack Croft, he was a likeable young man who spoke well. I had a quick look out of the window and it would appear the fourth floodlight has not yet been erected.

A big thanks to guest speaker, Stewart Piper! This gentleman had a long career with Doncaster RLFC, as a player and club official, and also mainly responsible of the TV documentary, Another Bloody Sunday, which won several awards at the time. He was an excellent speaker yesterday at the Friday lunch. His stories of playing for a team famous for not winning, his stories were funny and some were down to earth telling how tough the game was back then. One funny story was the time the Doncaster changing room bath had broken tiles on the floor, the lads coming out of the bath with cuts on their backside. Stewart spoke with Directors a couple of times and was told there was no money to re tile the bath. Someone came up with the idea to tarmac the bath floor, and this was done. After leaving the bath a couple of weeks for the floor to set, the next home game the bath was used, the players enjoyed the hot bath without their backside being cut up, but when they emerged, they all had black backsides, and ended up scrubbing the tar off each other’s backsides.

This Week Friday Lunch 26 November has been cancelled, Ray Wood has been notifying people by telephone. It’s a pity as it would have been a full house maximum 60 people. Thanks
