Fantastic first half, Hull were shocking, scrappy second half, Trinity hung the cue and started the off season early, Hull had to repay the travelling support for that inept first 40 so we're running the ball with more vigour, and HIcks did his best help them.

I think that might've secured Poching as head coach. It was his to lose and to be fair he, IMO, hasn't.

I agree. He's done everything asked of him.

Don’t get Hull KR hype we beat them twice

Are we forgetting that a season 20 games+, 2 games don't make a season.

I will agree though, the system is wrong, regarding the win percentage. Maybe some teams play the system smarter, though I think some sides have taken the proverbial, here.

It does also show that this is a league though, with fine margins. We ran with our ex coach that bit too long, and probably the same with some under achieving players.

Hopefully, a new coach coming, either permanent from within, or someone external, with fresh ideas, can either get that extra 10-15% from current players, or maybe from incoming players, and maybe some new cultures.

We can't go above Hull.

If we've played the same games does it go on straight points difference or does the ratio of points still count?

Current situation:
Trinity 482:548 = 87.96% (difference = -66)
Huddersfield 418:492 = 84.96% (difference = -74)

So, in theory they'd need to win by more than 8 to go above us (as we've scored more points?)

However, if it goes on ratio it gets more complex.

If my calculations are correct, to get a better ratio than 87.96% Huddersfield would need to...

Win by 15 if they score between 15 and 20 (15-0 to 20-5)
Win by 14 if they score between 21 and 27 (21-7 to 27-13)
Win by 13 if they score between 28 and 34 (28-15 to 34-21)
Win by 12 if they score between 35 and 42 (35-23 to 42-30)
Win by 11 if they score between 43 and 49 (43-32 to 49-38)
Win by 10 if they score between 50 and 56 (50-40 to 56-46)

Can this even be true? Seems unduly complicated.

That's a good point and I don't know the answer.
Can't find the detail anywhere.

If both teams played same amount of games and have same points it goes to points difference. If that’s the same not sure if it’s head to head or possibly tries score or defence.

I give up not a chuffin clue lol

I guess we'll just have to wait until SL publish final tables...
Huddersfield would have a case to be unhappy though if they won by more than 8 and then still finished below us.
:BEAT:

Hopefully, Leigh continue their winning streak.

It would be interesting if Huddersfield won 64-56, then scores would be identical

It's all out of our control. What will be will be.
However you would expect that if points percentage is the same, the standings would revert to the method used in previous seasons regarding points sored or for and against.
Let's hope for a Leith win and then we dont need a calculator.

Re: Hull FC / Play Offs : Sat Sep 18, 2021 4:20 pm
This is a bit random but, if the powers that be are concerned about making games more competitive, how about this? Make games worth 6 league points - 2 points for “winning” the first half, 2 points for the second half and 2 points for the team that wins the game. That might encourage teams not to take their foot off the gas if they’re well ahead at HT and give some incentive to teams who are behind. Last night’s a case in point - Trinity would have got 4 points out of 6, Hull would have got 2.
Just a thought.

Did Wakefield take their foot off the gas as some suggest or did Hull get a bollocking at half time and start doing some tackling, I thing the latter. Just because a team are 34 - 0 in front at half time doesn't mean the game will end 68 - 0 .
