When's McD stated he hates his home time club.
From memory he was quite complementary around the time of the million pound game.
I'm also sure he was in the Wakefield box.

Well I suppose he may have mellowed and when I heard him talk so unfondly of the club it was during the Ted years so I’ll give some leeway.

All the same I just don’t see him as a Wakefield style coach. That’s not to say he is a bad coach the problem is his methods would take a while to work by which time we’d be relegated.

I won’t bore you with a full appraisal but the general idea seems to be that he’s a disciplinarian - so was Smith, that worked well.

Like it or not clubs like ours run are run by consent not by iron discipline.

One wobbly game and suddenly WP can't do it and the players are all rubbish
They still played a similar game as before but they just didn't pull the trigger at the right time.
Lyne was ripping them up but a few tries were bombed by him not passing or when he did they didn't pass it back when he was clear.
There was certainly a lack of energy in defence from some but maybe the previous games have just caught up with some.

Our wins and losses boil down to one simple factor for me and that is consistency ,the holy grail. We’ve proven that the squad we’ve got are more than capable of winning games against perceived better quality teams ,we just can’t seem to do it on a more regular basis ,and that’s where our new signings come into play ,but only if they are motivated enough by the coach and team. We can’t stand still on player recruitment or we go backwards IMO ,and as we stand we haven’t much wiggle room in the league ,and so our new recruits need to be bang on the money in terms of team enhancement which hopefully will bring us more consistency going forwards . We’ve had some stinkers over the years and some crackers and sometimes it can be a fine line ,but when your running on such a tight budget as we are it must be a nightmare trying to enhance the squad with players that hopefully make us more competitive whilst not breaking the bank. For me I hope the players respond to poaching after this initial honeymoon period and push on to bigger and better things ,because of one thing I’m pretty sure of is we won’t get those sat on the fence and stay away fans back down at belle vue until we see a more consistent/winning team on the field ,and that not just me ( I turn up anyway)it’s boats loads of ex fans who have turned there backs on our club. I know people will bang on about the state of our ground , and yes it’s desperate for an upgrade ,but get the team winning again on a regular basis and playing good rugby and they will come back, it may be in dribs and drabs but they will come . Get pre match entertainment up and running again and make it a family day out ,like what is happening at HKR ,we are in the entertainment business so let’s entertain both on and off the field .

An over reaction on these forums after one loss, well I never.

Honestly certain posters on here need to get a grip.

If we beat Hull we will have won 8 games this season, that’s actually not bad for a team that had to sack it’s long term coach.

This season has now run it’s course it’s next season that matters.

Next season will be difficult but despite what our local doom merchant states it will be no more tricky than normal and not just for us either.

As ever next season could see the end or just as likely see a top six finish. That’s what makes supporting a team fun, or at least for most of us.

Up the Trin.

I don’t think the loss of the match against Leigh is the fault of WP. For the same reason I don’t think all the losses under CC were his fault either.
Probably it’s a player thing, they’re not up for it, maybe some not fully fit or simply not good enough in quality. Maybe even a combination of all.
I’ve seen dozens of coaches come and go at Wakefield and only rarely does changing the coach make a long term difference. Most of them for one reason or another don’t last long.
Usually a ‘good’ coach is surrounded by good players he CAN coach!

Thought we just lacked composure, was disappointed to say the least. Another day we could have hammered them, we really missed joe westermans ball handling and read near line, dominated for long periods. Don’t think we learnt anything new tbh.

Can’t really see why WP gets any blame on this, too many mistakes by individual players.

Thought Rocky was mom and that Crowther demonstrated if he’s anything he’s a loose forward.
