Really? I get a thank you from Liz every year. Nice little hamper and a thank you card.

Realistically she'd walk the other way if you was in the gutter in need of help

Not that old chestnut RWB. Do royalists ever have any other misinformed excuse for their existence?.I've paid towards the "royal's" upkeep for 60 years and none of them have ever said thankyou, Redscat old chap!!!

Did you start work at 5 year old, or did you retire at 75, just asking like.

How many knighthoods have the royal family ever given to a rugby league player? Zero.
They, along with governments, send us working class folk off to war as cannon fodder, yet some of us still bow down and tug our forelokes. The royal family care about us as much as tories clapping for nurses on a Thursday night. The only difference here is that we are literally being 'patronised'

The Royal family don't decide who get knighthood.
It is decided by the cabinet office based on nominations by anyone at all.

If we don't nominate our people, they won't be on the list.

Also, they don't send anyone to war that didn't sign up to do so.

Try again.

I would have far preferred Johnny Vegas as our sport's ambassador. At least he's a keen fan of the game. Unlike some minor royal who probably didn't know the game existed..

Jeez

Yes so would I but whichever way you slice it Vegas is not a royal not even in Saint Helens!

What part of Royal Patron are people not getting?

It may well be a pointless honour title and the stunningly beautiful Kate probably has no interest in the game. However by marriage she is a member of the Royal family hence she qualifies.

That said she herself is a commoner unlike the spoilt ginger brat so for me at least she’s an upgrade.

Truth is once the Queen dies and Charles has his five minutes of fame the Royal Family will slowly fade. They know this, and I can’t think of a better couple than Will and Kate to lead the way in what even I, a royalist, accepts to be an anachronism in the modern world. They will probably end up as a role model family for those who need roll models but with enough cash and class to avoid having to do reality TV.

So why not enjoy what’s left of ancient Britain’s history before we have the vile spectacle of Lord Tony or Sir Simon Cowell buying the throne.
