Fixture Congestion : Tue Jul 27, 2021 7:04 pm
Looking at the remaining fixtures in Super League with just over 48 days of the season remaining its certain to be decided on the averages system and not the points you earn. Hull KR still have 14 games to play and Leigh 12 games left which would mean these clubs playing every 4 days between now and the season end. It looks like some teams have already sussed this out and are picking and choosing who and when they will play to protect their average. With all the defeats Wakefield are collecting maybe busting a gut to complete all our fixtures like we did last year might end up biting us on the bum.

I’ll bet most fans figured out how this system would pan out over the season. Most people could see it’s open to abuse. I’ve no idea how testing takes place, but unless the tester can see the person actually take a test, and secure it until it gets to the testing station, how can anyone be sure who has taken that test, it a bit like using someone else’s pee in the sample tube.

Don't even need to test positive, just be close contact, and with the prevalence of the virus it's not exactly hard to find a subject.

Unbelievable, just like getting a ping, its even easier to abuse the system than I thought.

It will be more a case of unfulfilled fixtures than fixture congestion.
Worth remembering that IF certain clubs wanted to "cram" fixtures, this would also impact on the clubs that they play.
Apart from the possibility of and odd game here and there, I really cant see anything close to a complete fixture program, especially when you then factor in the possibility of players then going straight into a world cup.
The damage done to the game and fans, sponsors and broadcasters all having been short changed and then we wonder why the game is on its booty and all at a time when revenue for every club is so critical.

I see that Hull KR who filled in last week against Catalan have not had this reciprocated by Leigh or Huddersfield who they asked to replace Salford. I guess neither are worried about fixture congestion later on and I expect neither will complain if they have several games in a short period of time.

Postponed Fixtures yet to be played so far (in order)
Leeds V St Helens
Hull KR V St Helens
Hull KR V Hull FC
Hull FC V Salford
Hull FC V Leigh
Hull KR V Warrington
Leigh V Warrington
St Helens V Hull KR
Catalans V Castleford
St Helens V Huddersfield
Salford V Hull KR
Leigh V Castleford
Wakefield V Salford

Salford need to play Hull, Hull KR and us.
Even though ours is the last in priority, it could be played if there is any space as Hull and Hull KR have higher priotity fixtures, not least the derby,

It will be impossible for Hull K R to complete their fixtures, a game every 4 days for 7 weeks will be needed. Not even Michael Carter could pull that off.

I hope it is in order and teams don't pick games to play on by who the opposing team is

Didn’t Toronto get booted out of super league for not for not for filling their fixtures?
