Because Australia and NZ are very good at Isolating from Covid. They have done a much better job than UK and the rest of Europe. If the rates were the other way around, you would not send British players from a successful league to play a few games, living in bubbles, just to come home to even more isolation!

What they have done very well is have proper lockdowns. It wouldn't and couldn't happen here - we are too busy crying and demonstrating that our liberty is infringed because we are asked to wear a mask in a shop or on a bus.

They have locked down borders; we haven't because, oh yes...our freedoms. It's more important for us to go on holiday to Spain, than protect our communities.

They want to end Covid - we want "Freedom Day".

We demand the govt take responsibility for the pandemic, the care homes, the economy, the NHS...and we also complain that govt is too intrusive in our lives..."our bodies, our choice", "Boris can't tell me what to do", "I refuse to isolate".

One side call the others Covidiots, the others call them Sheeple.

Even the most basic requirements are met with endless talking heads on TV saying "it's confusing!"

People are stupid.

It would be interesting to know if players would suffer sanctions if they were to choose to represent their Country at the W/C and what those sanctions would be.
Depending whether the W/C was postponed and how long the delay may be, could deny some players from their last chance for meaningful International competition.
It still seems ludicrous that athletes from a myriad of different sports are still happy to compete all over the world but, the NRL have said no.
Self interest, to the detriment of the sport is never a good thing, either at club level or, on the international stage.

Some players are now considering playing for other teams if they can't play for Aus or NZ.
Still find it bizarre that at the same time as the World Cup both the Aus & NZ Union teams will be playing somewhere in the UK...........
If that doesn't show that the NRL teams are just in it for themselves, I don't know what does.

Fortunately, the game doesn’t have the wisdom, forsight and enlightening attitudes to life that seems to fill the minds of Mopsey and Wilzay. Such happiness and joy of life must be unbelievable to live with.

Tim Sheens is over here and a good team would be created as someone else said. Then there’s the Exiles etc. Plenty of scope to put something together and maintain interest and create the revenue the game desperately needs to come out of this trough. Unification and new leadership would be a bonus from this impasse as well. National media publicity seems better than that for the Challenge CupFinal!!

Wallabies and All Blacks aren't scheduled here as far as I can see.

One of them playing Italy, the other in Scotland ?

The point still stands though, in that Australian sportsmen and women are plying their trade all over the world and yet, it's only the NRL that feel that player welfare will be affected by playing over here ??

Also, it does appear that this decision has been made without consulting the players, which suggests that perhaps it is their own self interest that they are looking after and not the welfare of the players.
After all the whole argument was that quarantine wouldn't give enough time for a full pre season and (originally) nothing to do with "player welfare", which seems to have been thrown in later - maybe they have a spin doctor helping with their media output.

What's that got to do with Aus and NZ dodging the RL World Cup?

I think that he was trying to suggest that Australia can do no wrong, when clearly, they are certainly in the wrong with their boycott of the World Cup.
