Matt Shaw is again repeating the news of the signing this morning.

MC was clearly irked when told it was Shaw who had reported it.

Was that because:

a) He feels Matt Shaw is a terrible jouro who gets more wrong than he gets right?

b) He is irked because Matt Shaw has broken a confidence/embargo?

If it's "b", it matters because Leigh haven't announced anything and we have 2 players OOC, at least 1 of whom he would be replacing. There's a way to do things.

I'm still thinking "a" in this instance.

Not sure how you come to that conclusion.

Had a fairly undistinguished career all told.

He’s nowhere near as good as Kyle at his best but I grant you age is not on his side but then Hood is hardly young.

I just haven’t seen enough of Josh to make a decision as he has never had a crack when the team is something like on form.

Not that I think Hood would be a bad signing but let’s not guild the Lilly here, he’s very much a Wakey signing for a British player, decent and hard working and hopefully a point to prove but no superstar.

I tend to agree more closely with this view. I think Hood is about on a par with Josh ability wise but might be better value for money if he actually gets on the field. I don't think he is as good as Kyle even at his current age, Hood himself would be 30 before he plays a game for us and there's a reason why he's spent all his career in the championship or at teams who end up relegated. He's solid enough no doubt but won't take us to the next level.

Vastman and Sacred Cow in my opinion must have been watching a different Liam Hood and a different Josh Wood. Liam Hood is exactly what we need, his skill set is what we have been missing in the vital hooking role. If true his signing would be excellent news and a major step forward. Liam Hood is a quality hooker, the real deal. Josh Wood has the heart of a Lion and is an excellent one on one aggressive defender, he does not process the skill set to be a good SL hooker. Just compare the very basic requirement for the role ; Hood passes both ways with speed and accuracy, neither of our Woods do. Kyle Wood is a very good option to bring of the bench.

You do talk some rubbish at times, look at his playing career and tell me where the ‘quality’ is. He’s a good player who would do a decent job but ‘quality’ is pushing it.

Please don’t make me remind you of some of your previous ‘quality’ players.

Nope i'm watching the same Liam Hood who made his debut 12 years ago and has been in the main pretty average since. He'll go ok as a replacement for Josh Wood but he's a long way from the superstar you make out. If you want to talk skill sets he's not even the best hooker at Leigh!

Liam Hood is still planning being at Leigh next season. Ex Centurions winger Neil McCulloch (played for us in the 80's) told me that yesterday, "Unless Hoody is lying to me" was his last comment on the matter. I wouldn't blame him for joining you guys, but hopefully he won't. :)

This particular poster tends to do this, I tend not to think he's being overly serious.

I've no issue with us signing Hood or 99% of other players but to call Hood quality in its truest sense is frankly laughable.

It's not that long ago that this very poster was claiming Hampshire was the best British HB of his generation, I don't even think his dad believes that.

Sorry to Rocky, didn't want to drag him into this but he was the best example of Belly's hyperbole that sprung to mind.

Players do lie or at least keep secrets but who knows.
