Becoming a farce : Sun Jul 04, 2021 8:50 pm
Really think the rfl need to get a grip on things for the second time in days a game as been called of for what at this point looks to be none covid issues but because hudds simply cant field a team.if it is all down to covid then both the club and rfl somwhat have there hands tied with various government rules so while not good it is somwhat understandable if its genuine.(not sure salford was with us)if it isnt covid then the rfl need to get agrip of it teams shouldnt be able to pick and choose who and when they play.a local amateur side played on saturday with 15 players of which one of them had never touched a rugby ball but due to fines that can be imposed at that level played the game anyway

Despite the lack of coherence and punctuation, I'll have a go...

"It's the RFLs fault.

It's a farce.

But it might be covid, so that's ok.

But they shouldn't be able to get away with it."

Have I summed it up correctly?

This one is a tricky one because currently Huddersfield do not meet the COVID numbers to call off a game. It is currently an amalgamation of injuries and COVID that means they cannot field a team. They are hoping that the RFL and Castleford will agree to the game being rescheduled. I sense if they don’t meet the COVID numbers to call off a game Castleford will demand the same outcome they received against StHelens.

You obviously don't know the details, but don't let that get in the way of having a dig at your neighbours. RFL have admitted it was unforeseen circumstances and rules will be changed next season to rectify it.

Castleford’s problem was that they did not reach the COVID threshold with regards the number testing positive but also falling foul of the track and trace system. They could not provide a team so forfeited the game.

Everyone knows exactly what happened.

Cas did not have the required number of stand-downs due to covid within their first team squad to postpone the game against in-form league leaders St Helens, so stood down their entire academy squad, to try and engineer a situation to circumvent the rules.

They failed and rightly so.

Then, a few days later, they can miraculously name a full strength squad against struggling Huddersfield.

I haven't heard anything about the RFL "admitting" anything, or any proposed changes for next season - can you share a link to this revelation?

All this Covid malarkey aside is it just me or did I just watch a once super team last night put another pitiful performance in against the saints. Boy how they have come down to earth with a real bump , when I think not too many moons ago they were bristling with quality . The game for me was dire not helped may I add by the torrential rain for most of the game . These fixtures used to be blood n thunder and well worth watching , can’t see crowds rushing back in droves anytime soon if this is the quality that the so called big teams are dishing up . Fancy our chances even more against saints after watching that .

Agreed. Nothing super about SL at the minute.

do you think there is simply not enough good players to go round and the top clubs are being dragged back to the rest, with a lowering of standards all the way round. For me we can produce players but they never kick on to high level and then deteriorate, add to that no tough A team comp and it’s just crap. You may get one from ten a decent game. Makes you wonder why sky reduced the deal and gave us two years, probably thought this is a waste of cash
