I believe he’s had a shoulder op though I don’t know how severe. Eseh I think has a broken bone in his foot.

I would be looking to sign Murphy and Ruen from the current crop to add to Eseh, Bowes, windrow and Donovan.

I’ve watched a few games of U19s now and although there are others who could develop these are the ones closest to being ready.

U16's came back from 18 - 0 down to beat HKR tonight. Looks on the face of it a great win.

They literally handed KR the 18 points start then clawed it back in the last 20 minutes of the half to go in at half time 22-18 up.

Second half was an even affair with Trinity rotating subs which allowed KR to get a foothold back in the game.

They went back behind at one point but then rotated on some of the starting pack and looked comfortable and good value for the win.

Oliver Pratt very good at full back but MOTM for me was the 13 Lewis Magson who I thought was outstanding.

Looked like it was going to be a walk in the park for HKR after 10 mins but credit the team they dug in and showed great determination to get back into the game and come away with a hard fought win .

For the thirty-plus years I’ve watched the club, we have tried to buy or at least import success. The results to say the least have been sketchy.

Now we seem to be wanting to create it and in my mind, that’s always been the way.

But a word of warning to those fans, we all know who they are, those who want to sack Chester and bring in a new coach who will give the kids a chance, it will take time to build a team from within!

Those who say ‘well if your happy to support a team stuck at the bottom’, well you’ll have to do for a time I’m afraid.

It takes a long time to build from the base, build a culture, find the right mix. It will be frustrating but then one sunny day it will click and then at last will be what Trinity has not had in decades, a club culture.

This IMHO is why the BOD is sticking with CC and Applegarth, to finish what they have started. It's a risk and a gamble but for me, it’s worth it, I’ll take a few more drab seasons if it leads to a team that is finally built on firm foundations. The Academy seems to be doing its job now and then some and let's not be insincere here and pretend that IT isn't mainly down to CC. Applegarth is doing a grand job but he won't sneeze without a nod from CC. The way the Academy functions and the players they recruit will all be the way Chester wants it, does anyone really believe the nonsense that he doesn't care?

It's clear we can no longer buy in talent, it's not so much money, it just isn't available as far as I can see. So as I say we need to create our own. Rosy days ahead if we keep our nerve.

I agree in principle, I will say that Applegarth is very well thought of in the game and whilst obviously there will be some input from others at the club he is very much the driving force behind the junior set up and recruitment at the club.

The other issue is obviously retaining the players as they move into the first team and start to get reputations. Thankfully we have recently been able to do that however money again is a big driving force behind any clubs ability to retain players.

A great culture can often assist with retentions and probably mitigate some elements of level of an increased offer from elsewhere.

I think that's the first hurdle that's been overcome to a degree. Since the seventies, most players who have joined Trinity have had it at the back of their minds that we are a stepping stone. If they do ok and make a name, so long as the coinage is right Trinity will let them go without any fuss, in fact, they will actively seek a buyer.

That I no longer believe to be the case. I think younger players now believe that Trinity is for keeps if they want it.

A way to go yet but it's an important start.
