He doesn’t because in my opinion and it’s just opinion, he is trapped by convention.

The current convention is tha youngsters should be drip fed into the first team so as to shield them and allow them to progress at a safe pace.

It makes sense to some degree, but as ever it’s implemented as a one size fits all and that is where it fails and where it differs from the Aussie approach.

They follow the rule up until the players debut, at that point they dip it up and follow the if he’s good enough he’s old enough approach.

Daft thing is that’s exactly what CC did with TJ and Batch and to a lesser degree Jowitt and Crowther and it worked. Even odder is that he did it at a far riskier moment than now.

For me this was CC’s biggest strength and for reasons that are also beyond me he’s lost his nerve. I don’t know whether it’s belligerence or what but both this season and last offered a huge chance to be radical. Yet he’s chosen to go down the dads army route. I know you need a balance but come on when will we get the chance again?

If CC is to get back on track he will need to take chances, his conservative formula doesn’t seem to be enough.

Of course I may be miles of but the CC of 2016 gave a lot of players a chance and told those players to relax and enjoy themselves. Really wish that Chester would come back.

Don't agree, the effort is there from the first team players, it's the skill level and organisation/direction that is sometimes lacking

Don’t agree. :D

The effort is there for most of the games for 60 minutes, the last twenty it slips and that’s what cost us. It a cliche but it is a eighty minute game.

I knw that they were going well this season but, assuming that I didn't miss something, a 100% win record is really impressive.
Let's hope that those lads go on and make it into FT SL players and ideally at Wakefield

Wakefield are still the top team regardless but unfortunately there will be no end of season playoffs to allow the crowning of any official champions.

Pretty scrappy game last night, hampered by some pretty horrendous conditions in the 2ng half. A close score but Trinity really should have won by more, Newcastle didn't really offer much in attack and their scores came on the back of what I would say inconsistent refereeing, seems the "6 again" rule is something we always get on the wrong end of and when did an attacker not have a duty to protect the ball. Saying that we also benefitted from a couple of refereeing decisions, admittedly not giving us scores but preventing Newcastle from scoring. Nice to see a few of the 1st teamers in attendance too :thumb:

They lost to Shudds and drew with Saints but it's still the best of the group.
