Can’t really see where arundel fits into all of this, I ve always been a big supporter but he’s now too slow and lacks dynamism that you need in second row. Really think we should be looking to Croft as the third centre

Lot of water to go under the bridge before we find out the team we are to run with next season . Is the incumbent still going to be our coach for starters next term ,that’s before we can speculate who’s in or out ,retained or let go .Much of this may rest on how we go for the rest of the season .Think Fri will tell us more when we are in good form and playing a top side as to where were at .

Strange one stating that we are looking at bringing a fullback in , we have max and Walker and Rocky does a decent cover job when required .Obviously don’t know what the thinking is but all will be reviewed in due course . On the hooking front I thought Walker as a loose forwards when he arrived but obviously can do a sterling job at hooker ,but would like to see him at loose as I think in time he will have the size and skill set to make his mark in the game at that position .Early days yet for his development and looks to have a very bright future in the game along side others coming through may I add .

I can't see Walker being with us next year tbh. Ditto Hampshire but that may be up to him wanting a new challenge as I think we'd keep him for utility.

I hope we can keep Hampshire, I don`t think there is a player out there available that could do as good a job at covering that 1, 6 or 7 position, then there's the added bonus of him being able to do a decent job on the wing.

It`s all down to what he wants I guess but at this stage I don`t think he would get a starting SL club gig in any position so for me he will either go to another SL club and play the same role he does for us or drop into the championship and he would kill it IMO.

All that said, like any player in the squad, he still has chance to train/play himself into a starting spot.

Walker is a strange one, Plenty of potential and plenty of clubs after him when we signed him, he has been unlucky with injuries etc but he has never really taken his chances IMO. When we signed him I didn`t really rate the signing on the basis that I thought he was similar to Jowitt, potentially a little bit more elusive, maybe a little bit more pace but on the whole very similar but I thought Max was a little bit less raw, a bit more developed in his game.

He's just looked lightweight from the start, especially in contact and he hasn't made up for this in any other aspect of his game. Maybe it's just not the right fit and he will reignite his career better somewhere else moving forward, but I can't imagine a big queue for his signature at this point

Talking about available players. Here’s a few I would be looking at for 2022 season.

Hooker - Sam Powell (Wigan)
Prop - Joe Bullock (Wigan)
Full back/wing - Marty Ashton (Wire)
Hooker - Liam Hood (Leigh)
Second Row - Joe Batchelor (Saints)

Of the OOC id be looking to retain presently

Jowitt
B.Walker
Batchelor(still 23 and best years ahead, good squad rotation option)
J.Westerman
Hampshire (good squad player and full back/6,7 cover).

Promote from U19s

Leon Ruen (big second rower)
Lewis Murphy (winger with some good pace)

This list isn’t finite. There’s plenty of time left for players to earn contracts. There’s certainly a few maybes in there like Crowther and Kershaw.

Powell will stay at Wigan.
Hood is a good option. Not sure how old he is.

No. 1 priority in our own recruitment is the no. 1
I have always liked Max but with all the over the top uproar about him I lost a bit of faith in him. He had big flaws in his game and Hampshire was the better option but this season he's really stepped up. If Chester can continue to develop him he'll be a great long term asset at the club.

Jowitt has been the best fullback at the club since he broke into the team, yes he had flaws in his game, which 18/19/20 year old doesn't. His development stunted whilst Grix was pretty much selected unless injured but is now becoming the player the potential suggested with a regular run of games. Before that it was in for 1/2 games, out for 8/9, in for another and out again. We aren't going to get a better FB in our budget so his signing is imperative. Plus the academy licence saga has shown in order to keep an elite academy they need to bare fruit.
