It looked worse as per usual in slow motion because it clearly wasn’t a shoulder charge nor particularly late at real speed.

Bill shoots out of the line so often however it’s a problem we’ve had right back to the Vince Mellars days. Leaves the winger looking poor in defence when there’s not much they can actually do.

Yep, 4 try’s on the left today? Ultimately the difference. Bill has been fantastic the last 2 games but he was too eager and shot out leaving Kay high and dry a few times. Another time he’d planted his feet in the ground which didn’t help either. We just need to go back to what we were doing right in defence. We didn’t have the intensity today and were very reserved in working off the ball too (chasing the kicker down etc).

We are much better than we showed today and bill is a much better player than he showed today.

That unforced error by Lino really took the game away from us.

As did the forward pass from Westerman after a quality break and wire under all sorts of pressure. In reality it was how we started that cost us today. 14 point we gave them before we woke up. I’d also look at the left edge defence that leaked 4 try’s at least.

Chester says Tanginoa, Ashurst and TJ will all play Wednesday and Westerman and Lyne came off for precautions and will be fine.

Spot on assessment , we just can’t keep the consistency of our best performance going . For me if we could have played at the Hudds or HKR intensity it would have looked a whole different game and scoreline .

Alas Warrington are a better team and can hurt you more than Huddersfield and Hull KR.
I'm sure the intention was to do exactly that.

As for Lino dropping the ball, when you handle it s often it sometimes happens. Didn’t Blake Austin do exactly the same?

You're right Warrington are better than Huddersfield over a full season, but yet just a few weeks ago Hudds were 20-0 up at wire at half time, then we were 30-0 up at half time against Hudds?! Where's the form line in that?! It just shows it's turning into a bit of a weird season, look at Cas, last 3 league games all at home, have conceded 120 points! I won't say there will be never a better time to beat them, because it's a hoodoo we just can't seem to shake, but surely there will never be a better time to beat them...... :D

I take your point but Cas are different.
They were focused on the challenge cup and weren't at those zgames at all.
Let's hope they still are.

SUPPORT SWAG...

Re: Squad for Warrington : Sat Jun 12, 2021 10:41 am
I’m quite happy with that score.

It’s realistically where you would expect us to be, you don’t go from a beaten team to challengers overnight.

For me Warrington on paper are the best team in SL after Saints.

I think when we play Warrington at home we have a chance of beating them.

We scored 3 and it wasn’t a blow out score line by modern standards.

We have to accept that beating Warrington, Saints and Wigan on their own turf with no away support is a very tall order.

I think the coaching staff will be ok but clearly not ecstatic. Encounters like this will hopefully make us far more prepared for Cas next week.

At home against a far more unpredictable team and a derby game, a shock is far more likely. No one will care about last night if we can beat the old enemy.
