Fages did nothing wrong, in all the years of watching the game I can’t recall that happening. Not doubting the immense pain but why Griffin didn’t just keep the ball like every other injured does , it probably took more effort to throw it away than just go down with it.

Apparently the feeling is equivalent to being shot, so of course you’re not going to hold onto the ball. Jon Wilkin should be ashamed of himself.

Despite the immense pain, It's still strange to watch Griffin literally throw the ball away.
There have been plenty of players, with various injuries', foul play etc. and yet still hold the ball.

Had it been Trinity in a semi final, what would we have wanted a Wakey player to do if he was in Fages position ?

This is another example of the world of the easily offended.

It was unfortunate, nobody was to blame, it’s simply just one of those things.

RL is a tough sport, it’s built into the game and tough doesn’t just mean tackling hard etc, it means accepting that sometimes it can seem unfair, just like life.

It’s as if we are trying to remove all forms of jeopardy from life. That’s fine if we are talking open heart surgery. Utterly destroys the concept of a spectator sport, take away the jeopardy, good and bad and it’s not really worth the effort imho.

Oh please.
Wilkin was exactly right. You are just being outraged for the sake of it.

I've had some pretty major injuries playing rugby.
I tore hamstring and calf and they absolutely felt like being shot. I hear achiles is worse pain but the point is the same. I just fell on the floor holding the ball. The priority was to take the weight off the leg and get to the floor. It's nothing to do with trying to hold the ball.

It's nothing to do with Fages or the ref or Wilkin to decide how bad the injury is.

It would have been unsporting if he'd held the ball and Fages continued to tackle him or tried to rip the ball. Just picking a loose ball up when no one knew how bad the injury was is just free play.

Returning to the Cas v Wire match, that was the worst defensive display I've seen from a "top" team in a long time, so I'm not sure whether it was Wire being poor or a coaching masterclass by Powell.Perhaps a bit of both!
