DONT TOUCH THE WATCH

Re: Shuds next up : Mon May 31, 2021 6:31 pm
I think In general barring St Helens, SL is so unpredictable at the minute. One minute we looked like relegation scrappers, then as slick a side I’ve witnessed at belle vue against 2 strong teams. Chester clearly isn’t a poor coach, we have had very good success with him for the budget that we possess. I believe every coach had a sell by date no matter how well the team is playing, does Chester want this stress past this season, who knows. If we play more consistently like we have the last 2 weeks then who can complain? It’s a simple fact we need our strongest 17 playing 8+ week in week out to compete within this league, the more injuries we pick up the harder it gets with less quality coming in due to us being no where near the cap limit and cutting our cloth accordingly. If you want a consistent team who challenges for titles year after year go follow St’s or Wigan as this isn’t Wakefield. We clearly do the best for where we are at

We're all Trin aren't we?

Did you watch the last two games because if you did, you'd realise that we were good value for the win in both games. In fact we were so dominant in the game against Huddersfield that I think we would have beaten most SL teams.
Give credit where credit is due and stop trying to water the victories down by making silly comparisons!
If you're a Wakefield supporter enjoy it!

You wouldn't think he was, would you?

Good post. It just stings seeing clubs our “level” making finals (Salford past two years and Cas in 14).

I would like to see progress being made if Chester were to stay on though, another season where all we aim for is just to outrun the bottom club (this time Leigh) wouldn’t be good enough for me.

I agree.

I think coaches have limited time. Or in some cases, you build a new generation around them.
I view Chester as having 4 years with 2 really disrupted years. So personally, I don't judge him like some do on those years.
I like the style of play we play under Chester when it is going right.
Giants game wasn't the only time we've done that to good teams.

Someone else may be able to do more but I don't see one readily available, or someone who fits the Wakefield style as well as him.
In my opinion, the best coach, isn't necessarily the best coach for Wakefield.

Haven't we just made a play for one of the best S/O and recently made a a bid for a prop from the nrl.
Ambition is something I have given the club some stick over but it seems now for the time being they are prepared invest.
Players coaches and hopefully supporters should have ambition and to suggest that if you want a club that challenged for honours to go and watch Saints or Wigan seems bizarre.
The club should be climbing the position ladder and not going backwards.

At the end of the day fans are generally fickle both ways - most get too down with things too quickly when results don't go right and too carried away when there are a couple of good wins. Let's just see how it pans out over the next few games, because if Leigh stuff us next week then the mood will be different again. If we win then a lot of the remaining pressure will be off and hopefully this will help us kick on for the rest of the season and move up the table. The last 2 games only reiterate to me that we have one of the best squads we've had in SL and irrespective of the shiit thrown at us via injuries and Covid we have frequently under performed and I've personally been unhappy with some of the decision making and post match comments in particular. For Trin and the fans' sake let's hope this purple patch continues

George Williams won’t sign for us, and Chester even said we were a million miles away from Signing Fifita when he had the dog in reserve grade. As I said Saints and Wigan are challenging every year as they are the power houses of SL, we are no where near that. Hopefully one day we will, but until we have the financial clout of them it may be later rather than soon.

Indeed

I know that some fans point to Salford & Cas making finals.
However, the reality is that if we're some way down the list on spending power, in theory, others should be making finals.
Having said that, certainly with the Challenge Cup, Trinity have been poor for almost 50 years and we are way, way, way overdue a decent cup run (obviously not this season).
Totally agree regarding Fifita and Williams. Unless there were some really, really strong personal reasons for Fifita coming, he would have the pick of any SL and many NRL sides and you would expect some of those to have deeper pockets than us.
Even more so in the case of Williams.
For Trinity to do well, we need a run of results and huge amounts of luck.

We keep dreaming and Wembley seems a more realistic dream than Old Trafford.
