You do realise that this was a Leeds team that by their low standards this season were there for the taken by an half decent team. Why are we playing a second row and loose forward at prop because we did not sign the Wigan loanee and let another return to Halifax based on the possibility of signing Fifita despite the many uncertainties.
We play Hull KR at home next a game considered by many to be a must win. I hope we do but because we need it for everyone involved with the club. The problem is that we cannot attract suitable players to improve the squad therefore we need to change what the current team produce on the field. It does not take a genius to work out that we cannot make yards from our line, our kicking game is pretty abysmal and we are clueless near the oppositions line. These are not new problems and the buck must stop with Chester because he has not been able to rectify any of these except in the rare game.
I know some of you want to find any positive in his coaching but the bottom line is now 9 wins out of 46. I admire the fact that Westerman backs him but not enough to hang around next season apparently.

That's fair. I'll explain what I mean.
The tactics on the whole worked.
We played platers who could go the distance as our bigger players were dominated last year.
We took the option for two when we had opportunities
Our defense has improved tremendously, especially on the line.
Two players signed to plug gaps played well.
Playing Max at 6 worked as best it could but was clearly the best option.
The players played in a positive way and Westerman said great things about the coaching team.

The things that went wrong was 2 missed kicks, a wild pass under the posts and decision out of our control.

So I think it showed lots of things the coaching team got right but unfortunately it still didn't quite go our way.
The people still moaning about Chester are not necessarily wrong, but are so negative, they just repeat the same line no matter what happens.
I personally watched that game and came away disappointed but more positive than I was before.

All the daft mistakes, so very frustrating.

3 unforced errors by Lino in the first half alone. 2 errors at the play the ball by I think Green and Battye. Kelepi's forward pass and then conceding a penalty when in possession of the ball.

What on earth was that pass from Arona at the end?

Leeds were abysmal but managed to win.

Its not for a lack of effort, but things like not been able to pick up a ball at acting half is a crime.

As for Jowitt and his contract, the writing was on the wall when MC said full back is a priority signing even though we have 3 of them on the books.

It's different if we're playing Leeds

Having said that, the ground is quite tight and the players can hear the crowd, no question and in that context, maybe BV is quite hostile.

Re: Chester out part 65 : Sun May 16, 2021 1:27 pm
Every job or career has a shelf life, we have all had jobs throughout our life when for one reason or another we move on, those who have had one job there entire life feels like a rarity now days. I believe Chester has taken this team as far as he can, and I for one feel very worried about the prospect of us going down. Any coach that takes the role will obviously not have the funds most teams have put fresh ideas regarding recruitment and overall structures might be what we need. No body (I hope) wants to see anyone out of work, with a family and mortgage etc, but in sports that’s the risks you take , I’m sure Chester will know this full well. In retrospect what money will Agar have at his disposal compared to us, and they are churning out that garbage, just shows how coaching can effect your team positively and negatively no matter what money they have at their clubs.

Regarding the westerman comments after the game , it’s Called being professional and backing your players/coach no matter what . What he’s thinking may be another matter entirely, the look on his face said it all to me when we made a hash of yet another attack against Leeds ,or would you want him to slate his team mates /coach off live on air . If he’s so impressed with the club I will be overjoyed then if he puts pen to paper and stays, but I won’t hold my breath , and that about sums it up for me .Plenty of positives on the field but please don’t sugarcoat things just because we are starting to get to grip with one of the basics of Rl ( defence),yet seem as far away as ever on others (attack) . The clock is ticking and we really need to get a win or two in the coming weeks.

I can only go on what he says. I don't have your ESP I'm afraid.
Come to think about it, I've never heard any player say anything remotely bad about Chester. Even from Hull KR.

When do you think it will be too late or should we just carry on because the players like him. I believe that he has been given more leeway than other coach to sort things out but still we have the same old problems.

Come on the SP, which coach - that we can afford- would do better? that's a genuine question, because your 'top coaches' have top players- we haven't got . I'm hurting just like all genuine fans on here but I look at what's available and realisation sinks in - some of the players we're having to put out, are simply not good enough. End of.
