Massive work from the club this well done to all involved.after feel for are local neighbours Castleford they have lost theres and as much as i dislike them it doesnt make it right although they do currently have a very strong academy and scholarship set up and players will no doubt be on the move

Well done to everyone involved in getting a license for the next 5 years but dear god how the hell do they leave cas out or Hull kr or Bradford and put London and Newcastle is beyond me. The powers that be running our game are oblivious to what’s going on, the game is on its backside in the grass roots areas and they do this. It won’t make a scrap of difference to Newcastle or London if there’s no players here there won’t be any there.

I just had a nosey on the Cas forum, a lot of the posters are not in the least bit surprised. Apparently there's been very little invested into the academy and that Powell wouldn't play them in the first team anyway.

But yes, strange how Newcastle and London managed to get in ahead of Cas and Hull KR.

I'm both delighted and amazed. I'm not amazed that we got it but I am amazed by some of the teams who didn't and some who did,

I still think it's the stupidest thing in the history of the game, it's a massive victory for us but it's a hollow one.

One thing that baffles me,

We take a young lad from Cas, we train him up and get him ready, what's to stop Cas then coming in and offering him a better contract than we can. All we've done is save Cas the expense.

I've no idea if that's how it works but it sounds plausible and not worth the bother to me unless we get some kind of compensation.

Have I got this wrong?

Pretty much. We would get compensation if they left before they turned 22 but that is probably less that what we’d spend on a junior over the, say, 5 years we’d invested in them.

A point to note is if the funding system remains broadly similar then whatever the extra monies received (think it was 100k this time) then we have to as a minimum match that funding with extra investment. Obviously that potentially means thats less cash to spend on the first team, money that clubs like Cas & Hull KR can now spend on their first team. It means bringing the quality players through to the first team, then keeping them, is even more crucial.

Some great news for the club and a real welcome boost over the constant doom and gloom.

Well done Trinity

Cas look to be trying to set up their own pathways programme to run in parralel with this.
