Yes, and apparently, the other 2 floodlights at the North end, will have to wait until end of season, due to constraints of the North stand means a crane is required which will have to travel on the pitch. Let’s hope everything comes to fruition

Why wouldn’t it, they are all bought and paid for. I understand why but we don’t half look on the black side at times :D

Are you allowed to use the term “black side”? :D , what I referred to all coming to fruition, was the whole stadium redevelopment project, JM on the Q&A the other night, just seemed to muddy the waters a bit with his comments about still being in negotiations with developers about the funding, and being prepared to walk away etc.

Sadly, there is nothing for September planning meeting that involves the Stadium Redevelopment. I wish the citizens of Wakefield had a council with some backbone, that would stand up to the property developers involved in this fiasco. There must be a time limit to how long a developer can stall this development. In order not to fulfill their obligations to the enabling fund.

This month planning agenda

PLANNING AND HIGHWAYS COMMITTEE Thursday, 16 September 2021 AGENDA
1. Chair's Announcements.
2. To note any items which the Chair has agreed to add to the agenda on the grounds of urgency.
3. Members' Declarations of Interest.
Members are reminded of the requirement to make an appropriate verbal declaration at the meeting on any item(s) on this agenda in which they have an interest. Having done so, Members are asked to complete a form detailing the declaration, which will be available from the Committee Officer at the meeting.
4. Apologies for Absence.
5. To approve as a correct record, the Minutes of the Meeting of the Planning and Highways Committee held on 15 July 2021. (Pages 1 - 3)
6. Planning Applications. (Wards Affected: No's 1, 10, 14 & 16) (Pages 5 - 60)
7. Tree Preservation Order TPO/21/00189/I - Trees at Altofts Hall, Station Road, Normanton WF6 2NB. (Pages 61 - 71)
8. Application Claiming a Public Footpath Along Parkfield Lane, North Featherstone. (Pages 73 - 79)
9. Application Claiming a Public Footpath Between Lee Moor Road and Rogers Court, Stanley. (Pages 81 - 87)

I think if we had a council that had a backbone this stadium fiasco would have been sorted out a long time ago.
I cling to the thought that no news is good news, but the deafening silence about progress is doing nothing for my hopes!

The council can't force the developer to submit an application, they can only work on what they recieve and any subsequent approval and conditions of said application. Frustrating and a further delay tactic but ultimately YC will want to develop at some point, it's just whether or not they are prepared to play the long game and hope we go away somehow. Even if that were to happen, the council should stand strong and get the community facility they shouldve do out of this sham.

Over the years of this fiasco, I’ve lost track re the council’s involvement regarding the initial handover of council land to the developers. I’m sure if someone could dig deep enough, they might unearth that the land could be returned to council ownership if the developers failed to act within a timescale.
I know, I’m just grasp at straws :(

Yorkcourt have just submitted totally revamped plans for the plot, changing the number of warehouses, size & layout etc, which will take time to process and consider. Don't expect it to hit the committee for consideration anytime soon.

Wasn't the land owned, at least in part, by Oldroyds of Rhubarb fame?
