I've been saying this throughout. There are some very unenviable fixtures for all teams involved.

Certainly more relaxed watching the game yesterday, but in a perverse sort of way I miss having somehing to play for. Can we please be pushing for a top four place next year please?

The Middle Eights already look interesting with Leigh beating Salford. With still having to play Fev & Batley, Leigh are already looking good for at least the MPG. If they beat either KR or Shudds they might be looking at a top three place. It wouldn't surprise me if they finish second behind Leeds with the SL teams battling it out for 3rd & the MPG.

It is an interesting concept that I did not really appreciate last year with one poor game being potentially lethal to your propects.

Still pleased to be watching it from the outside though and able to chill yesterday and focus on how well the young lads played.

Re: Middle 8s : Mon Aug 15, 2016 12:10 pm
I think that the middle 8's are harder to call this year than last year.

Leigh seem to be a lot stronger than they were last year and so far seem to have learnt their lesson. Despite London's thrashing of Batley I dont think they are as strong as Bradford were last year and Batley and Featherstone are just not good enough to live with the SL teams.

I personally think that all the SL sides are stronger than the ones that were in it last year and because of that I see the million pound game being between Salford, Hull KR or Huddersfield and Leigh. (I think Leeds will have far too much and will top winning 6/7 minimum.

What would a Cockney know about rugby league?

Re: Middle 8s : Mon Aug 15, 2016 12:28 pm
The one win for Leigh has changed the whole dynamic and added extra pressure on the super league sides when they face each other. It is now very interesting.

Glad we're not there :)

Dont really know what to think.
Obviously, we dont want to get relegated or, be in a position where it could happen.
However, apart from getting the chance to see some future prospects, there is very little for Wakefield (or Widnes) to play for so, in some respects, I'd rather be in there and having stuff "matter" at games but, on balance, we are better to stay well away (especially this season)
Leigh beating Salford has really livened things up and London may cause a shock or two before they are finished.

Apart from Leeds, who look totally safe, any of the other clubs could be in danger of The MPG and IF Leigh could manage another SL scalp, they will be almost guaranteed promotion, leaving two SL clubs in the MPG.

It's far more exciting at the wrong end of the league !

Because Leigh and London have now made things interesting for Salford, Hull KR and Hudds, Leeds won't have it easy. I can't see Leeds going unbeaten but nor can I see em ending up in the MPG.

Can't see London in it. They lost to Leigh and then managed to stuff a weak Batley. The top 5 will be the SL teams and Leigh. Leigh might have three goes at this (assuming they beat Batley & Fev), with SL almost guaranteed if they beat KR or Hudds. Lose these and they will still probably have the MPG.

Just happy that we're not involved this year. Couldn't go through the MPG again. However, I think that if we do move ground next season the disruption will throw us somewhat off course and we may be in the middle 8s again. I pray that the RFL abandon the present system and opt for a one up, one down format for next season.
