Ave attendance for the season. : Fri Jul 31, 2009 2:48 pm
So far we are averaging 5,842. Not good we all agree Im sure, however if we can manage 7,000 for the last 2 home games we will end up just over 6,000 - slightly better than anticipated.

Celtic at home we should be easily looking at 7k with 10 pound entrance and Diversity on show, and the final home game against Hull KR 7,000 is again easily acheievable due to the away support

Overall it looks like we will be between 500 and 1000 down on average every game compared to last season.

With the travelling Hull KR support your average I anticipate will break the 10, 000 barrier for the season, I just wonder where all 500 000 of them will fit.

It will be interesting to see where these figures stand in relation to other clubs, clearly we are in a financial down turn which must take some of the responsibility but is it a trend across the league?

I'm sure there are many reasons why our attendances are lower Han last years.
We are in the middle of a recession, many people are out of work, those fortunate enough to be in work need to stretch their finances further than ever, negetive equity, fual costs etc the list goes on!!
But I still think the reported figures especially at the start of the season are also a contributary factor, I can still here the ghasps of disbelief now!!!!

We didn't do bad for Quins game so 7k + is achievable for celtic game. crowds have been down this season but the reccession and the state of Belle Vue doesn't help us+ some of our big home games been on sky which can knock around 2k off the crowd. The new stadium will be a massive boost for us

On average they will be but if you look at the attendances for the individual matches some are actually up whilst other are massively down. There seems to be a core level of support of around 5,000 which is roughly the same as last year. The drops have come from games that usually attract a large number of floating supporters (both home and away fans), e.g. Leeds and Bradford down by 3,000. This backs up the idea that the main cause of the drop in attendances is the financial climate - people who choose to go to a few matches are choosing not to.

It will be interesting to see if the promotions/discounts for the Celtic game manage to buck this trend.
