Nice, but for a game like this one, where there is going to be little travelling support, why not offer tickets for even less? How many more would we get on the gate with tickets at a £5?

£11 seems such an aribitary sum!

they have to make some thing if they charged £5 and then gave £10 away on the shirt deal then it as costs the club a fiver to start with . I would bet that this would be against the rules set down . I think that its a good idea but will probably end up in chaos , like can my son with a season pass take an adult in as a buddy??? .
One idea i would like to see is for all junior pass holders get to take a friend (under 16) to any 3 games for free and for that freebie to be bombarded with reason to buy a pass next year.

Twice the price, but your mate gets in free.

I applaud the club's initiative, as I feel this is one of the games that an extra effort really should be made to boost the attendance.

I am sure, when setting the reduced price of £11, the club has estimated that a 40% discount will attract sufficient additional spectators to offset the income lost by the decrease in price.

As an added bonus to those availing of the discount perhap the club might consider giving a £5-off discount voucher for admission to the Quinns home match in June, another notoriously poorly attended match.

Given that I have already made a arrangements to travel over for this match, even though I will be attending with a season ticket holder, I intend to pay the full price.

I'm really struggling to see how this is, in any way, a good offer.
Season ticket holders don't gain anything: fans who pay on the gate don't gain anything: new supporters coming for the first time with a season ticket holder don't gain anything (they still have to pay £11 as opposed to nowt if they'd stayed at home). The only people who will "gain" are regular fans who come with a season ticket holder and get in for £11 instead of the full price (Ings Roader being an honourable exception but how many others will do as he is doing?).
Don't get me wrong - I think it's good that the club is thinking of ways to increase the gate and it's definitely worth a try but there's a real risk of the crowd not being increased much and the club losing money at the same time.
I think a better scheme would be to reduce the price across the board to, say £10 for adults and give season ticket holders a voucher for the club shop, valid for a year, that could also be used towards next season's ticket. That would encourage everyone - season ticket holders, regulars, occasionals and first timers.

Look at it this way, our attendances against Catalans have been as follows;

2006: 3,324 2006 Av Attendance: 5,447 (Down 2,123 on Av)
2007: 4,003 2007 Av Attendance: 6,781 (Down 2,778 on Av)
2008: 5,479 2008 Av Attendance: 7,038 (Down 1,559 on Av)

So it seems the Catalan game is on average by down 2,153. Of that 2,000 that regularily attend i'd say 500 are away supporters. So the club probably realises that their losing 1,500 paying customers, many of which will be adults.

Even if the £11 offer is used by regularly supporters who don't have S/T's isn't that a good thing? They are probably the ones who are most at risk of not attending, and i guess the club probably realises that.

As S/T holders we are also benefitting, £10 at the club shop is not bad for bringing down a mate for a couple of beers and some rugger.

It's a start at least

Wakefield Wildcats Community department went round loads of schools before christmas selling season tickets for£10 - isnt that incentive enough
I have friends who aid the full £35 yet they're not getting a refund for the difference for their early loyalty!! :!:
