Something that hasn't really been made a big deal of, is the plan that the new stand will be something like a 150-event a year venue (I may be under-quoting that - I forget the detail), on top of the match-day events.
That's a LOT of jobs of work for the people of Wakefield.
Obviously the club will have modelled the numbers, but does anyone on here have an insight to revenue streams of weddings, conferences, bar mitzvahs?...you get the idea.
The venue has two huge advantages so should get a good premium.
1. It will be modern and attractive to look at and has plenty of secure directly in front car parking for almost any wedding/function I can imagine.
2. Often forgotten how vital this is but BV is in walking distance of town for most people, especially the young. An attractive proposition for the young who may wish to carry on the party. Frankly access for both day and night events is about as good as you can get.
I’ve lived in Wakey for well over 40 years and it’s never really had a good multi event space. Painthorpe was the last one but that was to far for sone, ditto Stanley.
Run well it’s should be close to a 24/7 cash cow, especially when combined with the flats which themselves still offer a useful venue.
That said not sure what restriction there are on it’s use by the Council, there don’t look to be any but they may have some time restrictions where it must be for community use?
