Well seeing as I have had my name mentioned on the odd post, I may as well give my own opinions as to how I see all this playing out.
Lets look at the facts of this latest press release first of all.
It talks about a refurbished Belle Vue and we can only assume it will be along the lines of those drawings we have seen. It also talks about this being in place for 2020. So by my reckoning we have one more season at BV and in that time all the planning processes, costings, tenders etc will need to be done.
The sheer size of the project and the difficulties of the site would mean it would be impossible to continue to play there so Its sensible to assume 2019 will have to be a season where we are 'on the road' so the works can take place.
2020 its all done and dusted and we are in a revamped BV.
I don't know what people think but I find it hard to believe that will all happen. So that in itself makes me suspicious about the intentions of those involved.
Secondly ,all this will not be done for free. £10m is a conservative estimate, so where will the money come from?
I am lead to believe the council will allow Yorkcourt to build housing on the remaining land at NM which was originally earmarked for the stadium and ancilliary sports facililities (So that answers Jinjers question they will never happen)
When yorkcourt get their planning do any of you honestly believe they will pay up ! The council will again happily wash their hands of all responsibility. They would sooner see a developer make millions rather than one penny go to Trinity.
88G will also be expected to contribute. They will do this due to a large carrot the council are dangling in front of them. They are being offered a fantastic development opportunity on a prime site elsewhere in Wakefield. That's why they do everything the council ask of them. I am not saying they will also renege on their responsibilities but if they did I am sure the council would again wash their hands and step back and suggest its nothing more than a deal between trinity and a developer that's gone wrong and not their concern.
Plenty of you out there have been around long enough and are starting to know all the parties concerned. Just sit back ,look at the hard facts, use a dose of reality and draw your own conclusions.
Mine are this, as long as Peter Box is running WMDC Wakefield Trinity will not get a penny.
