How I see it, the stadium aspect is completely seen by the wider public as a stadium for Trinity alone. We've lost that battle. That element of the UU would be the hardest to get people on board with so if by some miracle that's comes off and is financially viable then I would push for that initially.

Once built I would then go after the community facilities as this would have much greater sway on the wider populations general radar. The council can't then just say it's the club wanting something for free, they can't hide behind anyone else. They will have been complicit in aiding a private developer, and I speak as someone who works for one of them, to hoodwink the rate payer for the benefit of a few individuals.

That is a much greater headline for the media to latch onto.

Re: Belle Vue back on? : Sat Dec 23, 2017 1:32 pm
Well seeing as I have had my name mentioned on the odd post, I may as well give my own opinions as to how I see all this playing out.

Lets look at the facts of this latest press release first of all.
It talks about a refurbished Belle Vue and we can only assume it will be along the lines of those drawings we have seen. It also talks about this being in place for 2020. So by my reckoning we have one more season at BV and in that time all the planning processes, costings, tenders etc will need to be done.
The sheer size of the project and the difficulties of the site would mean it would be impossible to continue to play there so Its sensible to assume 2019 will have to be a season where we are 'on the road' so the works can take place.
2020 its all done and dusted and we are in a revamped BV.
I don't know what people think but I find it hard to believe that will all happen. So that in itself makes me suspicious about the intentions of those involved.

Secondly ,all this will not be done for free. £10m is a conservative estimate, so where will the money come from?
I am lead to believe the council will allow Yorkcourt to build housing on the remaining land at NM which was originally earmarked for the stadium and ancilliary sports facililities (So that answers Jinjers question they will never happen)
When yorkcourt get their planning do any of you honestly believe they will pay up ! The council will again happily wash their hands of all responsibility. They would sooner see a developer make millions rather than one penny go to Trinity.

88G will also be expected to contribute. They will do this due to a large carrot the council are dangling in front of them. They are being offered a fantastic development opportunity on a prime site elsewhere in Wakefield. That's why they do everything the council ask of them. I am not saying they will also renege on their responsibilities but if they did I am sure the council would again wash their hands and step back and suggest its nothing more than a deal between trinity and a developer that's gone wrong and not their concern.
Plenty of you out there have been around long enough and are starting to know all the parties concerned. Just sit back ,look at the hard facts, use a dose of reality and draw your own conclusions.

Mine are this, as long as Peter Box is running WMDC Wakefield Trinity will not get a penny.

Well ginger and trb weren't in the original set up either.

This thread is not about Ted you brought him into it not me I merely pointed out he sold the old ground before we had a new one, and as much as I'd like to discuss the merits and the failings of the man this is not the time, I do notice though that you admit to some of his failings regarding the club.

What does surprise me though is you now accept that you are prone to mistakes like the rest of us plebs, very christian of you :D

Why does this bother you so much in the grand scheme of things. TRB and Jinjer were along with me and PB the four people who set up SWAG. I was there I know so what part of that don't you understand? KK was not there, live with it. Doesn't mean he conntributed any less but he wasn't there at the initial meetings and a few beyond. What are you his wife?

Look Eastern you're entitled to your opinion but before you dismiss mine so quickly with your trite comments let me give you an object lesson.

In 2004 Prince Buster and myself suggested the idea of a supporters group to pursue a community stadium.

The much-maligned Ted Richardson quickly realised that an independent supporter’s group would have far more impact persuading the council for support than the club alone.

Hence SWAG was born and with the addition of TRB and Jinjer and with the club supporting in the background we started all this.

SWAG is the forerunner to todays Trust in case you're wondering.

For the first five years I was on the coalface and I travelled miles and spent literally hundreds of hours working on the SWAG agenda.

In that time I met with numerous Council representatives including Box, Jeffery's and Clive Hudson and all three at various times looked me in the eye and said Ossett was a goer, Thornes was a certainty whist NM simply couldn't fail.

I know what snakes these people are from first hand experience and I’m sorry but you simply don't.

I've heard this all before and I see no more validity to this than any other - you just see what you want to see.

However what truly offends me and if you weren’t so insular it would offend you is that this even if it happens is totally unsatisfactory in reality.

Just because we get what we want and I always wanted to stay at BV if possible a huge swindle will have taken place - why don't you get that.

Acres of valuable green belt has been conned into the hands of a private investor who will simply not deliver anything like what he promised but will make millions.

Our council has been complicit in this.

Where are all the other facilities Eastern? Where are the plastic pitches the sports halls and all the other community facilities? Hell where is the car parking!

You're being robbed blind and you just can't see it. I didn't sign up for this. I'm happy enough with he BV element should it ever actually happen which I doubt but what about the rest, do we let them walk away scott free?

In all conscience I can't because I'm complicit in this. I helped make people believe they were getting something they are clearly not. I don't blame the club for taking whatever is on offer but the people of WMDC should be up in arms. I'll say again you're being robbed blind and a lot of people have been stitched up - not least the residents of NM.

You go justify to them why instead of a wonderful community facility on their doorstep they now have numerous monstrosities to look at.

You need to think a little more and see past the obvious. I don't think you and others on here are bad people but I do think there is far too much self-interest and way to many blind eyes.

It still stinks, end of.

I've no interest in Chissitt's opinions but even if I have he's not in this discussion is he.

Im in total agreement with you regarding the community sports facilities and it’s been a regular question of mine on this and other platforms.

I questioned it on here after lots of statements from the club saying “we just want what was promised by the developer in return for the green belt land he received”.

It looked from the onset of the new Belle Vue proposal that everyone was happy with Just a stadium which is why I questioned it. I was told at the time that the wider community sports facilities would still be built at Newmarket. Well if they’re not then under the “we just want what was promised” mantra I expect the club and the Trust to continue until they are!

Been to Belle Vue have I Vastman ?
Saw my first match there in 1955 !
Got my season ticket for 2018.
Yes I do prioritise a new stadium before anything else.
Before I bloody die.
If there is a case for pursuing the council et al if community facilities are not realised then let the appropriate bodies do so.
But why end up with nothing at all ?
As for the general public , they have not got a clue about stadium for Trinity entwined with community facilities.

No you havn't missed it. I worded it wrongly.my fault
Your quote was made in good faith and it gives the impression that all parties are now back into discussion mode. Sometimes people may seem to be making agreements of their own free choice but the reality may be different.

It is what it is, to be honest Newmarket was hardly a sports village although it should have been. We have a lacklustre inept council and if we end up with new Belle Vue as per plans and us and the next generation can support our Cities only pro sports club I will be happy.

Beagle not getting at you in anyway. I would describe my connections with this club as very similar to yourself.
However just one point, who do you think the appropriate bodies are that will pursue the council to make them deliver what was promised at Newmarket.
The council or should I say Box, has no intention of delivering anything. Forget Newmarket and forget a community facility at Belle Vue. He knows full well no one will pursue him and the fantasy appropriate bodies do not exist. If they did he would never have dared to do his blatant diabolical trick of putting Newcold outside the trigger point.

Everytime anyone thinks about this whole affair they only need to say one word that sums up how these scumbags work and that's NEWCOLD.
