Indeed. Try telling the owner or directors of a business that cannot pay its employees or suppliers AND the taxes it received or deducted on behalf of HMRC that they have to pay the taxes not the employees or suppliers? Regardless of how it got in that state, what would you do if placed in that situation?

And I think "Walrus" might be surprised just how "mormal" it is for (mostly smaller) businesses to be badly behind on paying over the taxes they have collected in the current recession.
thats about right mate. might all work great in text books until you start trying to run a business yourself. when you have run a business for a number of years you learn that some bills don't get paid on time. in the building industry winding up orders are issued all the time but nt carried through. i'm sure a lot on here are just using this as an excuse to put the boot into the board and ted and his familywho i think do ok with the limited resources they have at their disposal. this is a storm in a teacup that will end in 3 months when the debt is paid off. then i am sure the doom and gloom merchants will find something else to whine about.we had a great season last season and assembled a great squad for next season. can't wait for it to start. p.s you should all stop wetting yourselves and get on with discussing rl

Nah - he only found out through me. Seriously, the first we knew about it was yesterday afternoon.

We did know about it just before the club's press release was put on the home site - and I can fully understand why that happened, but I feel the club could do a little more to placate the masses - that's personal opinion of course.

What does this have to do with SWAG (other than undermine their efforts to get us what we all know we need and want to keep us in SL)?

The more I look at this, the more it looks like old news from September which someone has now seen fit to leak to the media. And old news where the problem was resolved, quite possibly by selling players but that is speculation.

I thought we'd already had Mischief Night?

so where do we stand with the ground and why isnt someone telling us the exact truth about the bills. why dont they come out and say were sorry we messed up or just tell us the truth for once. im not having a go at anyone about this it just seems to happen over and over again. if its from september why isnt the club not telling us whats going on. its the fans club even though they think its theirs

There's only one question for me, and that's based on the sale of BV. Most people on here only found out this season that the ground had been sold to clear outstanding debts. The figures mentioned at the time indicated that there was still a substantial amount in the war chest for other projects, and a final payment on the ground was still to be made. I don't have the facts at my fingertips, so I'm relying on dodgy memory here, but even taking this into account, I would have thought a debt like this would be covered comfortably by the money remaining from the sale of the stadium. I'm not trying to stoke the fires here, but for me, it just doesn't add up, even when you factor in the decline in revenue from this season. We must have had one pretty shocking season financially for all this to make sense. :?

First I heard was from YEP reporter yesterday afternoon - since then I have spoken to several people to find out the full story - or as much as they will tell me.

No-one at the club seems to panicing about this issue - they are all a bit upset that it has gone public, but remain confident that it WILL be sorted in the timescale required.

I don't understand tax/business stuff/etc.
And I think nor do most have the ability to know-it-all.
So, instead of soap-boxing, why don't we take that comment on board?

It's a little difficult to believe their confidence that the money will be paid off, when they are the ones who got us in the brown smelly stuff to start with.
