I remember his attack being quite srong, just never a prolific try scorer. It could be said though that during those years the wingers never saw much ball.

I also fondly remember a front row once of Johny Thompson, Nigel Bell and Hugh Waddell! I think the combined age was over 100!

One forward who I had hoped to see picked in someone's team was one of my boyhood heroes - David Jeanes, a great prop forward.

David jones think toppo signed him after a barla tour came from wigan st pats remember his 1st try being in the challenge cup at carlisle, at the end he was on adrian shelfords shoulders outside the changing rooms with wakey fans chanting jonesy for britain. Fond memories.

Going back to the Slater 7, I seem to think it was against Batley. Then there was Barney Ward kicking about a dozen in one game.
Regarding 2nd rowers, does anyone remember Peter Harrison who we bought from Feath for about £1500, what a revelation he was. He carried the ball in 2 hands and when the opposition came to tackle him upstairs he'd push them off with the ball. Sadly his career ended one Good Friday when he was defending the Doncaster Road end (versus Cas I think) and I can still hear the 'crack' as his leg broke, the leg was amputated.
Yep David Jeanes another favourite.
Geoff Wraith was a good fullback, but Trevor Midgely under the high ball is another story.
