interesting reading some of the enlightened views on here surprisingly Wakie fans seem more progressive than some others.
But if anyone wonders why people use drugs i have a little story about 3 years ago i got a bad arm injury and had to go to hospital where i was given IV diamorphine. ( basically medical heroin)
I have never felt so elated in my life ( apart from throwing up something rotten later). But for a couple of hours i did not have a care in the world. Up until then i worked with a lot of addicts and saw the negative side of heroin. death, illness, crime, prison, losing children etc. But after having Diamorphine i saw things in a different light and have never had to ask why someone uses drugs.

I'm one of those with the 'enlightened' views, but certainly not where heroin is concerned. I don't see much harm in the casual use of a bit of smoke or a line of charlie, I've smoked plenty and it did me no harm, and a high percentage of good friends of mine use cocaine regularly when they go out and they're all decent people.
Heroin is a different thing altogether though and totally devastating for people who get hooked on it and everyone around them. I still wouldn't lock someone up and throw away thew key though, there should be much more help out there for these unfortunate victims.
I don't buy into the.. starting on smoke and moving onto stuff like heroin either, it's about understanding drugs if you want to take them. I knew and understood what smoke was all about as I have done with others I've tried. I knew all about the devastation heroin can cause if you try it just the once though, so never did.

Have you ever took a step back and thought of the following
Why is cocaine produced and by whom?
Who make all the money from it where is that money
Billions of pounds into the black market,
Have made the connection with cocaine alcohol and violent crime and the cost to the country
When you buy your lines of charlie just remember its origins of coca leaves mixed with kerosine and loads of other products that do you the world of good.
Smoking dope is virtually accepted however the stronger strains of skunk etc are a different kettle of fish you will see instance sof mental health etc rising in the coming years yet more drain on society and the NHS.
The reason people move from lower level social drugs to more serious drugs is that your body gets used to the drugs you are taking over time and it is harder to achieve the high you are aiming for, but your body still craves the high because of the addiction. Consequence of this is that you have to move to harder drugs to get your high.
Saying you understand it and would never...... sounds like, I can stop drinking any time I like. Of course we CAN all stop, but we don't. And as long as things stay the same it's not too much of a problem but for those people where something else happens to change their circumstances they can't control it. (Like losing job, loved one etc)
The other side of drugs of course is that if you are addicted, you have to buy it. If you can't afford it you steal to be able to pay for it. A very common cycle that takes you down another level.

Supply and demand, it's a popular product that people buy.
Who make all the money from it where is that money
The people who make it and sell it, probably on flash cars, big houses and eccentric lifestyles. Pretty much the same as other people who make large sums of money ripping people off in all other walks of life.
Billions of pounds into the black market,
Along with billions and billions of pounds for a whole host of other reasons.
Have made the connection with cocaine alcohol and violent crime and the cost to the country
Yes, alcohol is widely accepted as the thing to do though. I would personally say alcohol is worse than cocaine, just my opinion though.

I don't buy lines of charlie, I don't do any drugs at all and haven't done for nearly 10 years. I have friends who do though and I reckon they couldn't care less how much good it will do them. Life is short and they're out to enjoy it, they're big enough to make their own minds up.

Again, it's up to the individual. There's supposedly so many things that can do you so much harm nowadays according to research. It would be an utterly boring life if we took notice and stopped doing everything that was supposed to be bad for us according to experts.
'That is why no amount of cajolery, and no attempts at ethical or social seduction, can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party.... So far as I am concerned they are lower than vermin'

but still a drop in the ocean compared to cigarettes and alcohol. maybe the government should produce it and reap the financial rewards rather than drug barons?

Agree with some of those points, but I really don't think you can generalise when it comes to addiction. Some are more prone to addiction than others. Some can remain "social drinkers / drug users" throughout their lives, and go without for long periods of time without ever feeling a craving, others are easily hooked and once they've tried something and enjoyed the effects will face a long and difficult battle to escape that addiction, if they ever manage to do so.
I agree with those who've stated that Hock is not a drug cheat. I'm not condoning what he's done, but apart from keeping him awake during a match, there's nothing that a line of coke will do to improve his performance on the field, and his prospects for making it to the top of his profession.
