I'm not trying to convince you, or anyone.
I'm passing on what I was told by someone at the club.
It's "amusing" on a couple of fronts = the club were unaware that it would happen and those at the front of the West terrace will need a periscope to see the pitch now.
I'm not denying it, I'm just questioning whether it is actually 2 foot? I can't imagine you measured it so it's just what someone has said (they may of course be spot on) and as I say it will settle a bit. My guess is by the end it will be about 18". This is still a heck of an issue.
None of the above surprises me in the least. I'm guessing the pitch laying is separate to the rest of the development, different contractor. Anyone whose ever had any building work done will know that people in the building trade NEVER communicate.
There will simply be nobody on either side whose job it was to state that the pitch will be 18'' higher. It will be in the small print of te specification but nobody will have delved that deep. Basically you'd expect to be chuffin told!
That's certainly what JM will be thinking this morning. This is the problem with rebuilding old stadiums, it's not a clean sheet and there will be more of these types of issues.
It's easy enough to fix on the North terrace. Just raise it by filling in the gap between the pitch retaining wall and the first step, you loose one terrace step but in the scheme of things its nothing - it's certainly one a few fans with a cement mixer could sort.
The West terrace as noted is now even more of an issue than before and I can't think of a bodge for that one, oh dear.
