| Yes that was my initial thougnt too.
Could we maybe tempt one of their forwards as one used to play for us and one is from our neck of the wood.
Both have also worked prevoiusly with John Kear

Wouldn't they be able to use the marquee signing rule without needing to offload anyone significant?

Still need 100k on the cap for a club trained player under marquee signing, but I can't imagine that will be hard for them to find, just offload a couple of there squad players.

| Quote Eastern Wildcat="Eastern Wildcat"Just read on Facebook that James Graham is set to leave the Bulldogs.
Probably out of our price bracket but British so no quota spot, good pedigree and plays in a position we are short of.
Thoughts?'"
Give it up mate, you're looking foolish now.

| Read on Vastman mate.
I said he was what we need positionally wise.
I also said probably out of our price bracket and on a further post I also said that if he came back to SL whichever club he came to may have to offload players to accommodate him.
Also for the record I compared him on the zero tackle website to Andrew Fifita and their salaries were similar. How accurate it is Im not sure.

James Graham is not joining us because he simply wouldn't demean himself.
As a club we do alright recruitment wise but we are still painfully unfashionable and no amount of money would get certain players to join us - why? Because they don't need to. There would be a cue a mile long for Grahams signature, whether he's worth it I'm not sure.
As for him releasing a player from Saints, again no for the reasons given. Amor and Walmesly who I assume you mean are both playing well and even if Saints got rid they would both join a top 5 team - maybe Salford or Widnes or even Cas at a pinch but not us. The JK link is also tenuous to say the least, Moore and Bibey were JK signings with Brough being his best signing - it was actually Steve Ferres who bought in much of the talent.
Finally the last player we got from Saints is still here and at this exact moment I can't remember his name and that says it all. Allgood and Ferguson are a big step up for us but Simon is a loss as is Moore. Talking of those two one came to us as a basket case and still is and the other was a fringe player at Catalan, those are the sort of players we will be looking at. We have a reputaion for spotting the best of the rest and turning them into somebodies and that for now is how we must continue. It's sad and a bit hurtfull but that is where we are and even a re-brand won't alter that for now.

| According to the comments on Facebook it sounds as if he is Leeds bound.
Talking of fringe players from tge above isnt that what Mullally is.
Of the other clubs mentioned above I think with Cas shelling out for Hardaker I think they would struggle. Widnes have just announced their squad numbers so I would think their pre season recruitment is complete.
Just for the record Vastman we have Ashurst and Walker with a St Helens link. Two players that have had positive comnents on this board recently.

If you do read the small print as the article I quoted was written in 2014 when he was 28...

Towards the end of the season in a post match press conference, I think during the Super 8's, didn't Chris Chester say something along the lines of if we employ the same kind of people, we make the same kind of mistakes.?
Isn't this the kind of thing what we are on about, and if the club want to progress, we need to try to move away from some of these type of players.

Yes but he's talking about personalities not how expensive or high profile they are. There are plenty of bargains out there you just need the nous to spot them - JK is OK at that though not the genius he's sometimes made out to be. Combined with CC and a now far cannier chairman we should unearth a few. It's not about big names and big salaries it's about players who fit - no good having a superstar in your pack if the rest are just average because what will happen is that thyy will look at the superstar and say you get the mega bucks you do the work, it's what always happens.
I really can't expalin it further, this just isn't currently the right kind of club to be signing the Grahams of this worl even if we had the cash.
I applaud your ambition I really do but one step at a time - we ere utter crap in 2014/2015 and only played well for a spell in 2016, you can't go fro zero to hero that quickly, not on our budget.
