But radio Leeds said that SWAG have been told that the ground will still go ahead.

So everyone stop, take a step back cos Swag said so.

Completely unfair - even if you don't like what you are hearing.

Remember, this is old news - the situation was the same in August / September and October whilst we re-structured the squad for 2010 and, let's be fair, most of us were happy with things then. The only thing that has changed this week is it becoming public knowledge - and for that I am sad as it has damaged our reputation, but if the club deal with the issue and pay the debt without it affecting the day-to-day running of the club or the stadium, then we can soon get over it.
can I ask will this go against us in the next franchise like it did for Widnes ?

I am starting to get a bit hacked off with all this.
1. How do we get to a point where we are over 1/3 of a million in debt with HMCR, who is responsible? How does diane think she can justify what is happening with a "no more comment" this is our club and we should demand "more comment" and seek to find responsibility amongst those who seek to shoulder none.
2. Where has the £158K cone from to reduce our liability, do we now owe it to someone else, is it the clubs money if so why wasn't it used in the first place or more worryingly where would it have gone if none of this had come to light?
3. Where is the remainder to be sought? Is it going to be another debt, is it coming from proposed player sales?
I am finding myself with little trust in the people that run the club, they seek to hide, no comment is not good enough!!
Recently a lot of people have given a lot of effort to help achieve something amazing for the clubs future, and now this!!!!

If you are not capable of running the club, wish to step aside, or just own up to what ever is going on, feel free, but to me, this is just not good enough!!!
YOU ARE ONLY CUSTODIANS OF OUR CLUB!!

If the ground has been sold, which according to many people on here (and not) then this year would have seen a much larger tax bill than previous, the reason the bill may not have been paid fully yet is the fact that the club may have wanted to keep cash in the bank to aid cashflow, and may already have an agreement in place over when and how much each installment will be.

It may just be that the court case is to set in stone the liability, and when the payments are to be made, nothing more and nothing less.

Widnes referring to another post above mine, as long as no laws have been broken and we are not put in admin etc then there should be no reason for us to have points reduced on out next licence app, this statement alone by no means show that there has been poor financial control by the club.

Dunno but news like this is likely to put off potential new fans and former fans who will take this as confirmation that the Club is still run like a joke.

I have been quiet on this till I got to know a few facts.

OK we have not got our selves any brownie points from this but this blew up a few months ago the RFL were fully aware of it all along and it has now been sorted both to the satisfaction of HMRC and the RFL.

Someone has dug up a bit of 'old news' and released it to the press. If they had not done this we would have all been in ignorance, the debt would have been paid off after being restructured.. end of !

Here is the interesting bit several other clubs have got themselves into the same mess and one I am told has problems that makes ours look insignificant. Funny how none of the other clubs have been mentioned isn't it !

Yes because we had got to know what was comming so we had to get in the first shot. I was told what was comming even before our press release.
Some one out there has put the boot into us but forgot to mention the 5 other clubs

Woww there - I have asked the right questions and I have tried to deliver a message to support both the club and with regard to the stadium.

My understanding is that the developer was aware of our position some time ago. As I said earlier - the only new thing here is that it is now public.

I can only do my best here - and I don't like it either! :?

you got that one wrong fella. the first thing you pay are your wages and in the present climate, most businesses are running close to the wire. if the banks can't keep their business afloat without the government pumping in billions then i think the club have done a great job re negotiating their payment to the tax man. quite a large majority of businesses in this country run on credit and they are no different to wakefield and when you look at the size of the debt to the turnover of the club and the payment plan, less than 200 000 is not that big a deal, especially if you look at some of the other clubs and the problems they have.

I was refering to directors renumeration not salaries of staff players etc.

We should not be in debt to the tax man this is a very poor state of affairs and is not normal for a business despite what people say on here.

When you take in all that money you set aside a proportion to pay your tax and VAT etc. Its not yours to spend and you know its to be paid. If they have spent it and are now scraping around for time to repay etc then we are in trouble.

It is not uncommon - nor indeed are we alone in RL in having delayed tax payments.

It will be dealt with.
