Think we are too far down the line now for a change to be honest, I respect what people have done to get us to this point, but currently we have a club and more importantly a team that people in the town and now even the die hards dont want.
A year ago we had the world at our feet, but somebody somewhere got the maths wrong, hence for whatever reason players left but more importantly were not replaced by players of the same quality, despite us presumably having budgetted for their departed salaries. Every move since the Brough debacle has been a money saving move, and now we are where we are.
Said it before but this started when we lost to catalan at home at the end of 2009, and then failed to nail down Mr Brough with the money we didnt need to spend another half back or hooker, from there on in we were screwed.
including the current board of directors!!! Glad your finally onside with popular opinion
I don't think that anyone - including Ted - thinks that new investment is needed. There's been plenty of threads on the subject in the last couple of years and every time it's generally been accepted that we aren't going to see anyone seriously coming to the table until the 2012 franchising is known.
If we get a franchise then the realistic investment needed (rather than purchase price) to take us into a position where we are seriously challenging from honours each year will be upwards of £10m over a period of 5 years or so. If we don't get a franchise then it probably only needs a couple of million over 3 years with a couple of million more when we get a franchise back just to compete at SL level.
Either way this investment is something that whoever takes over the club will never get back, so it needs somebody with VERY deep pockets who has a genuine passion for the club. Given that there's a distinct absence of Bentleys & Ferraris around BV on a match day it's probably a safe bet that anyone trying to count the potential investors to replace Ted would have fingers to spare on one hand when they'd got around the ground (not that it's hard when you only need two hands to count the total crowd ).
Like I said, Ted has his faults (many of which he will admit to) but one thing that can't be denied is his love for the club.

dont talk utter bollox. you think he has nothing back. ted, di, david all take a wage from the club. and if you think he wastes his own money on the club your mad.

.......and your estimate to what would have needed investing for the same playing return this time last year?? or more importantly close season after 2009, think you have a pointnow though, we are maybe a million a year behind where we were then.

Totally agree with the above. The sad fact about it is a) it has been allowed to get to this and b) that certain sections of our fan base are willing to put up with it cos Ted tries really hard and loves the club (even though he doesnt seem to have a clue about how to run a professional sports team) and despite JK packing his bags and having the taxi to the airport booked, they are happy to let him stay because they dont think anyone can do any better than him (desipte the 3 wins in the last 20 games !!!) .

Can you offer that section of fans an alternative to TR and JK, a simple yes or no will do.
We can't boycott the club (well i can't) so what do you suggest we do to change things, i don't disagree "times up" by the way.

Al think the time has now passed where a viable alternative can be brought in and be a success sadly, no coach or investor in their right mind would come in now, however a year ago they probably would have, I got off here for a while because of the Newmarket will save our day mentality, it wont and would never have without a solid playing platform and the core fans that go with that, we had all our eggs in one basket from 2009 and now the basket has a bloody great big hole in it, i will always respect trb and others for what they have done for my club but in the end somebody somewhere got the economics and maths wrong, I fear now our best hope is a drop out of SL and a steady recovery over a period of time,no thats not our best hope, its our only hope.
