Whatever we all think of DB, good, bad, indifferent, brilliant, tempramental etc, losing the individual is of little concern to me. The effect on the team on the field, and the club in general, is far and away more important. For my pennies worth, the start of the second half at Hull KR spoke volumes, as did our approach on Sunday. This after our annual huddersfield thrashing. I feel somehow now we are at least as strong, tho' more probably a stronger unit.
Huddersfield have got a very good individual. Thanks Danny, good luck in your career.

kirkmond on loan? cant really see how we will benefit from the loan of a fringe player as opposed to loosing a first team regular and playmaker like Danny Brough Lets just hope that we use the money and get Brett Finch ASAP. Danny was our star player and we need to replace him with one fast.
Good luck to Danny (although god only knows why he chose Huddersfield? i suppose he could have gone to any club he wanted really) totally bemused again as to why we always just cash in for short term gain leaving is wallowing in the mid to lower parts of the table (Nigel Wright, Henry Paul, Ellis, Solomona and now Broughy to name a few)
I just hope Cooke finds some of his earlier career form and we end up with a half decent run in to the end of season

I'd say we're in a better position now! Korki for keeps, Kirmond on loan, Cookie ours, a wedge of cash (with rumours of Finch), Gledhill signed up, Newton's wage freed and Hudds get to deal with the Brough-Drew feud. Plus, when we sold Ellis the money seemed to disappear. I think this time round considering how well this deal has worked for us I think the board and JK will do something a lot more exciting. Plus, weren't the Storm hanging round our place when the Brough-Cookie talks were going on?
There's no doubting that Danny Brough is a very talented player. He's been part of some memorable victories and has contributed enormously over the last couple of seasons. Him being a product of the academy makes his and the clubs progression all the sweeter.
However, he's unfortunately got himself into some bother off the field and has to look for the best deal for his family. We've offered him a very generous contract and unfortunately there are better offers elsewhere. The Club could do no more, and have managed to strike it lucky as Huddersfield are desperate to avoid a bidding war come the end of the season when he'd left us for nothing.
We've managed to get Korkidas on a permanent basis along with Kirmond on loan until the end of the season which will probably be funded by Huddersfield or at least a large % will be. We've also managed to get a transfer fee for a player who'll realistically only be missing 20 games. That coupled with Cooke on reduced terms and we'll be fine until the end of the season when no doubt we'll have a big signing lined up.
Do i think we'll be weaker without Brough? Of course we will, but that doesn't mean other players won't step up or that youngsters won't emerge as potential stars. We've brought Cooke in, Davey is improving with every game and Sam Obst is relishing being a pivotal player. That said we've also got young Cain Southerwood who may make an odd appearance. As with every player who leaves you are initially saddened, but someone's loss is another persons gain and we'll continue to improve as a unit as we always do.
Let's draw a line under it and get on with the job in hand!
On the Wakefield website Brough wants to play in 'big FINALS' On the Huddersfield website he wants to play in 'big games'. I would like to think it is now incumbent on the players who are proud to play for Wakefield Trinty Wildcats to appear in 'big finals' before or at the same time as the now departed Brough.
Hopefully steps are in place to try and prevent players from getting themselves into a financial mess forcing them to seek an alternative employer.( Should they do so, a clause is in the contract which means the club do not lose out in any way.)
History shows that no player is indispensable and while I admired Danny as a player and made allowances for/sometimes admired his 'character', I thank him for his contribution while feeling the club can now go on to further success and growth.

Kirmond is not a fringe player. He would probably have been a starting player for us this season apart from an injury he got last season.
Nathan Brown who knows a bit about players said that part of the reason we fell off towards the end of last season was because of injuries to KEY PLAYERS LIKE DANNY KIRMOND.
You have got a great player for the rest of the season. Injuries permitting although he has been out for 7 months or so.
Give him a couple of games to get into his stride and he will be a star for you.
