Much of the conditions will have ben set for the outline application, the reserved matters will cover the details. Things are moving but wouldn't be surprised if it pushed on a to next year for the Council to make a decision.
A decision next year would possibly be too late to save the club.
Below, is a paragraph from the Developers “Revised Planning Statement” Sept 10th 2021.
9.4 The stadium at Belle Vue fails to meet the Rugby Football League’s Tiers 1 – 3 Operational Rules 2020 and Facilities Standards 2016. This is because it does not provide the required number of covered seats in particular. The other limitations are the floodlighting which fails to meet the 1200 lux requirement. Disabled facilities are inadequate. Continued failure to comply with the rules and standards poses risks to the Club’s future.
9.5 The Rugby Football League has granted a dispensation to Wakefield Trinity Rugby League Football Club for the current league season. However, Samantha Allen, Head of the Delivery, Professional Game and Salary Cap, wrote to the Club on 22nd January 2020 stating that;
“Please note that no further dispensation will be granted in relation to seating....”
9.6 Under the Operational Rules, if a Club fails to comply with a dispensation given to it then it is guilty of misconduct and the Club may be excluded from the Rugby Football League’s fixture list at its absolute discretion. The Rugby Football League has the right to carry out inspections of grounds and direct that a match, or matches, may not be played if the ground is found to be unsuitable in some way.
9.7 In those circumstances, the Club would potentially be unable to play matches at Belle Vue and therefore unable to play within the Super League competition with significant adverse consequences
I think we really need a positive outcome on November 18th this year.
