I find it quite amusing that certain people on here are giving their expert opinions on Miller and Finn, the very same people who were almost nauseous in their fawning over Brian Smith, yet apparently he couldn't see all their weaknesses and was quite happy to have them as his first choice half backs so we were led to believe?! I'm pretty sure Smith said Finn would allow Miller to show off all his natural ability to the full, which hasn't really happened has it, am I right in saying Miller hasn't scored a try yet this season, but was scoring them for fun from half way through last season? All a bit strange, maybe Smith wasn't the coaching legend we were told he was by those on here.....
Maybe I'm reading you wrongly but I have to say that post seems monumentally sad to me, maybe it’s just me but surely you want every player and every coach we sign to be a success?
That being the case then surely they deserve a clean slate from the start and a reasonable amount of time to make it work. Would you not expect the same courtesy in a new job?
BS was in charge for a grand total of what 14 games? of which only 4 were with a team of his creation. I simply can’t give an opinion on his coaching ability based on that. He was here for such a short period of time it’s pathetic to even attempt to judge him as a Trinity coach.
As for the way he left and what he said afterwards, well that’s a bit easier - it was a bit shoddy IMO. However nobody saw that coming and if you’re claiming that you knew he’d walk out four games in then I’ll just cover my mouth whilst I have a little giggle to myself.
The way things have turned out shouldn’t make anyone as happy or smug as you appear to be.
I personally wanted Morrison and didn’t think Smith was the right fit but had to agree that you just couldn’t ignore Brian Smith - I’m not going to take any pleasure from it not working out - it’s not as if Morrison or any of the rest were guaranteed to succeed - it seemed a good call at the time, end of - those who revel in hindsight are pure fakes in my book.
Tim Smith was class, everything creative came from him, have you ever considered Wildmogey that when you thought he was not playing well was because he was surrounded by incompetent players were clueless. This is backed up by what we are seeing this season, without Smith our only option is to hope that opposition miss a tackle. Tim Smith was a fabulous RL player with more skill and guile than the whole of this seasons squad put together. Don`t get me wrong as a person he proved to be a complete knob., but boy do we miss him on the pitch.
So does that apply to Finn then? In that at Cas he looked better because he had better players around him? What happened to Tim Smith at Wigan and Salford, he had better players alongside him yet didn't cover himself in glory did he. To me he was infuriating, I agree he has talent, but he was very inconsistent, he simply didn't play well often enough, but maybe that was to do with his 'off-field' problems, who knows.

The point i'm trying to make is, people are now dissecting players on here, their weaknesses etc, yet they are the same people who were saying, 'oh so you know better than Brian Smith do you?!! Let him pick the team, sign his own players, have a pre season under him etc etc, sorry but it's quite hypocritical. Smith was here for well over 20 games, two wins against SL opposition, after 5 games he left, and we already had the worst defence etc, he improved us, but only marginally, he quickly realised we couldn't compete and jumped ship, everything after that was a smokescreen.

Wildmoggy : Finn was never the creative one at Cas, they had Gale, Roberts and Dorn. Finn was used for his kicking game at simply to pass the ball on. Powell must have thought he had won the lottery when we agreed to swap the very talented McShane for Moore as it meant he could drop Finn, which he immediately did. Don`t` get me wrong anyone who plays pro RL deserves respect and Finn had many skills in his younger days, no where near Tim Smith. His legs have gone so he is a sitting target for faster attackers to get on the outside of and pull in the next defender. That said he is miles better that Miller
Will it's simple wildmoggy, apply for the job - you're clearly qualified and know so much more than the rest of us
No I don't know more than anyone else on here, unlike some who profess to know more than coaches etc. This whole Miller/Finn thing, you and others are giving a detailed account of Millers' perceived weaknesses, yet a coach who has over 30 years experience can't see those weaknesses?! Brian Smith obviously saw enough of Miller in his time last season to offer him an extended deal, yes? Some people on here at that time expressed their opinions that he wasn't up to it, he was a Championship player, and most of them got shot down for doing so, being negative probably. Then they come back and say I told you so, and you say it's hindsight?!! He's an individual, off the cuff type of player, hence the reason Finn was bought, to organise, to be the main kicker in general play etc, to compliment Millers' game perfectly, according to Smith. It hasn't worked, Miller has actually gone backwards since last season, at least he was scoring tries, the leading scorer at the club, this season don't think he's scored any yet. I don't take any delight in the club time and time again making bad choices when it comes to player and coaching recruitment, it's quite depressing and worrying how wrong they get it sometimes, but don't have a go at people for criticising, at the time someone is signed, not 6 months later, at the time. I wish Chester all the luck in the world and hope he gets something out of the squad we have, and at least puts a smile back on the faces of us long suffering fans.....
Big game on friday now, our talent isn't in question, our attitude and mental strength is. Yesterday we were on top against Catalans at half time and dominated the last 25 minutes, we simply didn't turn up in the 2nd half, and what we did do was lazy, lethargic and slow, we rightly got punished, do the same on friday and you'll beat us! Not sure about numbers,Ellis and Smith both definitely out Eorl was concussed, so he could be missing, Broughy went off as a precaution with a leg injury, Wardle will be banned for his red card, Tansey can't play, but we could have Brierley and young Simpson back in the squad.
Can't say i'm looking forward to it!
Called it spot on, lazy, lethargic and bad attitude again! the OP fancied and rightly so, good win for you guys, we were embarrassing, but you played the game spot on and took advantage of our woefulness.
