That might feel like some kind of poetic justice - relocate outside the district to spite the council; in reality, it would have little to no effect on WMDC, but would have a very real and damaging effect on the club.

So I think you're alone in that one - it would be a disaster.

Your reasoning is sound and I have no problem with that view. However just thinking a little wider, I support the Trinity club that happens to be situated in Wakefield. I have no loyalty for Wakefield as a whole. If I did I would have loyalty for Cas as that is in Wakefield.
Further to that kirkless seem to support sporting clubs in their district and they are spending money down Owl lane. You never know if Trinity move there, their support to develop the ground and its infrastructure could be increased. Many people in Wakefield have no problem of supporting Leeds Utd and that's not in the City, so I would have no problem in supporting Trinity playing down Owl Lane.

According to the logic of some on here they will not watch trinity at Owl Lane and yet if the played 200yds further down the road in Ossett they would happily continue to go. This must be some king of weird hang up.

So here is my solution ! if we move to Owl Lane, park your car in 'Wakefield' and take the 2 mins stroll to the ground.

Certainly a valid point, Buster.

But, you need to factor in the "human" factor, where most people dont like change and take time getting used to it.
Wherever we move, some people may prefer it and others wont and if they dont like it, there is a risk that they wont turn up.
Of course this would be the case wherever we moved, even if it were a brand new ground, within the "City Limits".

It's a while since I last went to the Dewsbury ground but, it's certainly in better condition than BV and hopefully it wont be a hard sell to get people to go there (assuming that's where we end up playing next season)

On t plus side, we may find that people prefer it and that we can sell the ground out every week !

Regarding the human factor wrencat, regarding change do you not think that the state of BV kept many away and if we do move either temporarily or permanent it may encourage them to return. I personally think we will gain more than we lose with spectators, I just hope it works out which ever way we choose.

I suppose as a kid I was more aware of Wakefield Trinity than I was of the City of Wakefield. As I got older the City tended to become more important. The two now run in parallel so I could follow the club to Barnsley, Dewsbury or Featherstone. Without the Trinity link to Rugby League though I'd probably just become an armchair general sports fan.

What if Wakefield bought 51% of The Tetleys Stadium and invested in some improvements to make it a 10,000 capacity ground that was for all intents and purposes ours.

How would folks feel about that?

If the club had the cash to do that I'd rather save the money and looked at somewhere in Wakefield to lay down roots.

Whilst I support Trinity, I do so because they're from Wakefield, otherwise why would I bother supporting a failing club when just 9 miles away we have the Leeds Rhinos. The comparison with Leeds United is a misnomer, there is no comparable alternative for peoples to support who are based in Wakefield.

Dewsbury for a short term of one or two years I could live with and I think he club could survive, long term I have my doubt. I suppose another way to look at it would be whether a Sunderland fan would be happy to go watch his team (if the SOL had just be taken away from them) play at Newcastle, Gateshead or Hartlepool for an unspecified length of time without any assurances they would return.
