| Seems like we are interested in a few forwards but are facing stiff competition.
Fifita and walker been two. I hope we are not left wanting in the front row and get our first choice targets.

Agree, it will be hugely disappointing if we're still left looking for Props in 6 weeks time. We knew the deal with Fifita, that there was always a chance he might not come back. Even though it's a bit of a kick in the balls after going to the trouble of bringing him over, when no one else was that interested att. So I'd have thought they'd have already have been looking and inquiring about possible replacements, whether from the NRL or here.
Said it before, if we haven't a strong set of Props to give us the meters down the middle, we might as well of not bothered bringing Sam Willliams over.
It's still relatively early though and the club will be doing their hardest to sign a few extra faces up, so hopefully we can get a strong enough pack together to enable the likes of Williams, Miller, Caton Brown, Johnstone and BJB do their stuff.

| I have to laugh at the Brian Smith backers telling everyone how he set us up, introduced systems and brought his son over to show us how to train.
He signed his players, got pre season done the way he wanted it, was given more resources than any previous SL coach and promptly lost 6 of the first 7 games. He had no shame about quitting without any notice or warning then bad mouthing everything and everyone at the club like bitter and twisted adolescent.

Fair enough but using your logic CC must have a magic wand as he walked in and made the team immediately fit and tactically astute.
Regardless of Smith eccentricities he must have had some impact because had CC arrived 12 month previous he's have been lucky to win a game.
Smith did his bit, some good some not now lets move on.

Leigh are trying to sign Hampshire but are then intending on loaning him out to aid his development...to us.
Interesting if true

Why would they do that, they need a quality H/B more than we do

| He isn't to bad, if so.
For me, if Fifita stays, I would go with him and England to start, with Simon on the bench, and then Walker and Hirst fighting for last bench spot.
Going back to the Hampshire conversation, I was talking to a mate this morning on the way to works with one of his relatives. Ryan is going nowhere at the moment. He is on holiday, and doesn't know anything about these rumours.

True if Walker signs he would be your best prop rumour has it he's signed for Huddersfield or Saints

| That was the worry, he will have plenty of clubs after him, He gets a starting shirt in every SL team so our best selling point of guaranteed rugby is not a great value.

No he wouldn't, England is better - however you will get some support on here as there are many Trinity fans who seem to think any player in any other SL team is better than what we have.

| I agree here, I also think England is our best prop.
For the first 10 or so rounds last year he was head and shoulders above everybody else in the club.
I am also a fan of Mika Simon, really runs it in hard. He may be a little higher on the error count than some, but he was our top metre maker in 2016 in the props

He had some good games for us and I'm not going to knock him but I don't think it's a massive loss. Is his wife still working for us?

Agree with all that.
Just looking on the stats for meters made all our Props/forwards have a fairly average average carry of around the 6.5 meters. I was really surprised to see England is one of our weakest meter makers per carry at 6 meters. Only forward to brake 7 meters is Fifita, It's a worry that, when you go through all the other clubs, every club has plenty of forwards making 7 meters plus a carry. I know it's not the only aspect of a forward but it's one of the main ones.

Stats are a poor work tool IMHO. He may have only made 6.5 meters but were they up the middle or running at the small men out wide. My impression was that England ran it straight and hard and right up the middle where the big lads were.

Could the simple reason be other clubs forwards run onto the ball making them harder to tackle gaining extra yards whereas are often stood still when they take it?

That was part of the point and what I found really surprising, he doesn't make 6.5 meters like Simon or even Anderson or Scuton, he makes 6 and all of them are running it down the middle.
Stats aren't the be all and end all, but just for raw data on how many meters your forwards are making there's nothing else better imo. Ateotd they can't be such a poor tool when the Props who are considered the best, like Hill are making 8.02 meters a carry and have carried for nearly 4000 meters, or Walmsley 7.87 3691, Scott Taylor 8.25 and 2872, even Amor 7.45 3718,

Scruton probably honoured his contract at HKR so he can meet up at least twice a season with his old best mates at Bradford Bulls. hope the HKR fans don't expect a 100% performance when they play the Bulls.
