Apparently one of the suitors wants 100% control, so having a representative on the BoD may not be quite so easy. Most small business owners (and I feel that is what we are looking at here) are not used to 'scrutiny' over their decisions and workings and so 'representation' may be not be achievable in the first instance eg Widnes currently (and that's a big business owner)

But the Trust could still put the fans POV on things across to the new owner

But any suitor would be foolish not to have the new Supporters Trust represented on the BOD. He will need a BOD even with a 100% shareholding and while it will not be about control it will be about transparency! Given the current situation and feelings among fans, why would anyone come in and tell the most loyal members of his 'audience' to get lost!

The new BoD could be their family with paid executives to do the day to day running of the business. He/She may feel that they know all about running a business and they can make it successful on their own, with their own skills/acumen and money.
If they 'would be foolish not to', how many RL clubs have got 'supporter ' reps on the BoD? I would hazard a guess that none of the top 8 and most of them have had difficulties in the not too distant past.
BTW I'm generally in favour but I can't make the decision for any BoD :)

Hopefully so, or at least more clear lines of communication between Board and Supporters as mentioned at the meeting last week.

The incumbents made many mistakes in getting their message across.

Posting on a supporters message board was foolish, fine when times are good, but the posts are few and far between when the heat is on.

While it may be 'fun' it looks utterly stupid for the Board to be in fancy dress for an away match. Again, that ended when the going got tough and doesn't come across as professional.

Players, coaches, management should be available and approachable but not too much, not pally pally, at arms length. 'Family sport/club' we may be, but things went too far.

As soon as you let people into the 'inner circle' and feed them scraps, then the divides become wider. You can't employ people because they're supporters of the club, only that they have the skills required.

And you can't rely on a weekly newspaper to get your message out there. So many media people in so little time, wonder why that was.

I agree with regard to communication and crossed wires etc

In this latest article, Jimmy Elston wants to keep the franchise application a secret as part of the negotiations, so who told them the ground which is revealed in the article?

To be fair i rekon it isn't difficult to guess and the author has just put 2 and 2 together.

I am looking forward to the season. Everyone has written us off which suits Kears motivational techniques and we always seem to play better when our backs are up against the wall.
