Re: TJ, incredible : Mon Nov 09, 2020 1:18 am
We apparently looking to do a swap for Battye which if I was guessing would be Walker. The statement regarding the importance of KT came from Chester, let’s hope he remembers that he is a second row not a prop.
We are still in the entertainment business, I know it’s hard to always remember this, therefore you need players who bring the crowds in and Johnson and Fifita are two. I was wondering if the lack of crowds actually effects some players like Fifita who we know thrives when the supporters are cheering him.
With regards players out of contract I still think BJB deserves another season, Green we have decided to move on and I wonder if Kopczak will end up at Leigh. I also thought our French prop and the one from Halifax would not be with us next season.

Perhaps the addition of a 12th club at such short notice will play into our hand. Whoever it is, they will be desperate for some SL standard fringe players to boost their squad and we may get the opportunity to offload a few that are surplus to requirements.

With Hull KR offloading 11 of their 1st team squad they too will be looking for replacements.

Didn't Hull KR get rid of a similar number of players last season too?

Well, according to rival fans and our very own 5th columnists over on TRL, Kelepi Tanginoa has taken over as the player we aren't good enough to keep hold of?

In todays League Express Chester says that he wants to build a team around Tanginoa..."We will fight tooth and nail to make that happen. A lot of clubs are probably sniffing around him, but he is loving life at Wakefield Trinity as is his family, and we're hopeful we can get something sorted long-term and build a team around him. And a half-back is a very close second"
As Scarlet says above, we are also looking at keeping Battye with a potential swap deal being proposed to secure his services, so maybe offer Walker back to London along with Gigot ??

So keeping Kelepi is the number one priority

Need to be spot on with recruitment - obviously dictated by funds. For every Tanginoa there are three Gigot’s.

When any deal involves a player swap the difficulty is that you need a Wakefield player who is under contract wanting to probably play in the championship and move to London.

What would a Cockney know about rugby league?

Re: TJ, incredible : Mon Nov 09, 2020 1:33 pm
Retaining Tanginoa seems to have gone up the list from the priority of an organising half.

I’m more confident now we’ll retain our big players than I was a couple of months back. Really need to decide what we’re doing with people like Gigot. Beginning to look a daft signing if we don’t know what to do with him.

If we can get Battye in then great, but think we need to look at the other front row options as for me we can probably get better in to replace Koppy and Green.

Koppy, Green, Navarette, Gwaze and Tangata as it stands wont be part of the 2021 squad.

We have

Fifita, Arona and Aydin under contract.

I think 2 strong quality props are a must and very important signings with the yards we struggled with in a lot of the games. I’d be happy to retain one of Tangata or Navarette for rotation/back up also which would give us 6 props.
