Should Chester end up leaving I hope the players involved get the opportunity to sit with MC/JM on the interview panel for his replacement.

At this stage I’m not sure it matters if you hold the players responsible or the coach for the dire run of form. The clubs become a laughing stock, the players are openly slating the coach in the media, the coach is slating the players and Carter seems to think we can just carry on regardless!
I’m sorry but you simply cannot continue to back Chester he clearly has lost the support of the dressing room. At this stage the best thing for all parties would be for Chester to go. Bring in a new coach who can have a free hit till the end of the season and decide who he wants to keep and which areas need strengthening. The dream pick would be Mr Watson at Salford. I’d love to see what he could do with some of our squad. I fear that failure to do this (replace Chester not necessarily bring in Watson as I realise that’s a bit of a pipe dream at this stage) will result in a continued appalling run of form which will alienate even more fans and also lead to us losing star players in the off season. I’d be very surprised if Tanginoa, Tupou and Johnstone weren’t already being tapped up.

After seeing Carter's reply I think the call for Chester's head is counter productive.
He's closer than us and says the claims are unfair.

And of course we don't know where they came from.
Could be Fifita still upset about the tracker
Could be Gigot not liking being dropped when we all agreed with that.
Could be somebody's dad giving info 3rd hand.

Needs sorting but not necessarily by just sacking people.

Sadly, for this once great club, leaving it until next year could be the beginning of the end for us

We have our answer friendship wins out over the club. I wonder how many supporters will go along with this decision if the performances continue to decline and we go through the expected blood bath at the end of the season.

What would a Cockney know about rugby league?

Re: Get a grip, please, someone... : Wed Oct 21, 2020 10:18 am
That Chester will be in charge for 2021 season commencing is not news. That aside I don't have a problem with much of what Carter has said in that article to be honest. At the very least he put his name to it instead of insulting us all by running anonymously to a hack in a frankly cowardly manner.

I wish everyone would read bramleyrhino's post two or three times just to get it through some thick skulls

Mr bramleyrhino speaks a lot of sense.

I'm not sure why Carter needs to take such a combative approach on this sort of thing. I've said on another thread that he seems completely devoid of empathy, and this is another example of that.

Given what Carter has said in the press previously about how he will deal with dissention in the ranks, I really don't see how saying "we're doing it this way and if anyone has an issue with this, grow a pair and speak to me" is the right approach. You might not be the player who ran to the press but it may be that you agree with the sentiment of the complaint and if you're a player looking at Carter's past remarks, at a time when you're possibly worried about your contract position, you're not going to stick your head above the paraphet in that way. RL players have no shortage of "balls", but they do have a shortage of job and financial security.

This isn't a hidden issue. It's one that's in full view for all to see so it is Carter that should be the one making the first move and offering the olive branch here. He should be the one coming forward and speaking to the senior playing group about their concerns - constructively, and setting out his and Chester's vision - not sitting in his office and waiting for them to come to him with their complaint.

He should be but that isn't his way. He can have a very annoying trait of rubbing people up the wrong way, even though some of our fans seem to think he is some sort of untouchable messiah.

And another thing about that staement, other than signing the cheques for the use of facilities he should nothing to do with any of the planning of training! That is 100% the coaching staffs remit.

If true... And I repeat that.... If true.... Then Chester hasn't got much value left and has to go.
However, if I were the new coach I'd look to get rid of the trouble causers who went to the press rather than do the best they can for the club.

There are only so many players it could be who can say they've been coached by a top coach previously.

Player revolts never work well for any club. All parties lose.

Unless there is a group of players who are desperate for the club to work things out and felt they had no choice.

Equally, however, it could be fans passing on workplace moans made by players that should never make it to the press.

It isn't going to make Chester go, and it isn't going to encourage any player to sign.
