If Leigh beat enough SL teams to get promotion, whether directly or through the MPG, then they deserve to be there.
They'll still be in Middle 8 I'm sure (with us most likely) but they'll have Super League money and crowds for the first 23 rounds, and that is a significant thing.

It wasn't posted to mock, it's plain reality. I don't have any delusions of grandeur if we get into SL.

Salford shouldn't be in the M8's based on results, why it took the RFL 2 years to bang them with the points deduction is anyone's guess. I don't believe for one minute they didn't know sooner. That point deduction put them down and kept you up, plain and simple. If it wasn't for that, well I.Will leave that thought there.

So apologies if it sounded a mock post it certainly wasn't meant to sound that way.

Roll on 14 months time, when the new additions of Toronto and Toulouse and possibly a strengthened London teams are in the mix. A few teams from SL and the championship need to up their game to keep ahead of these new boys

I think the point from the Wakefield side of that argument is that once it was signed off that they got the points deduction, and we were safe, we packed up and stated playing kids.
If we'd needed more points, the results may have been different at the end of the season

Fair point RoyBoy. All three clubs would improve the geography of "Super" League.
South Wales Ironmen and Gloucester would do the same. We are a few years from that but I wouldn't rule out an expansion of teams or a change of promotion and relegation rules. Nothing stays the same at Red Hall for long. Away game mileage then becomes a challenge!
Who knows, by then players may actually be playing the ball with their foot.

Re: Middle 8s : Tue Sep 06, 2016 4:23 pm
I believe when other teams have been fined for breaches of Salary Cap, it has always related to a previous season.

I don't buy into this we are only there because of them breaching the salary cap. At the end of the day they have broken the rules by spending more than they are allowed to. At the end of the day, any chairman with money can through a squad together, that looks really good. Money talks.

As the good doctor has tried to pull the wool over the eyes of the RFL, and thinking he can get away with it, who's to say that the salary cap hasn't been breached during 2016 in assembling this squad.

What is laughable in all of this why aren't Salford challenging the top 4 with their squad, rather than battling for 8th spot, when Wakefield, a side who in 2013 brought in MC as their owner, slashed their Salary Cap spend to about 1.2 million, about half a million less than anyone else, just to keep the club afloat.

All things considered on the above, Wakefield deserve this 8th spot on merit, and not Salford.

It is just sour grapes from our dear friends on the wrong side of the Pennines.

Granted, we have been disappointing since we were there, but were we likely to compete, bearing in mind of an ever increasing injury list, especially in the pack. To me, it has been a good exercise in blooding a few kids, to see where they are at in their careers at this stage. Maybe some of these players will get some more game time during 2017, but maybe not at the same time. This could help some of our senior players last the pace in the final quarter of the season.

You say that you didn't want to mock but, your point is not relevant.
The RFL should have acted sooner, although it was Koucash who prolonged the episode with his false claims of innocence.
Everyone played the season knowing about Salford's deduction and it could be argued that, even the Championship clubs are benefitting from their dissaray, including Leigh.
If their heads had been straight, you may not have beaten them etc, etc, etc all if's and but's.

You guys deserve promotion and a shot at SL but you will make more friends if you wind your collective neck's in and just enjoy what is happening.

As Salford have found this season and Bradford last, the Middle 8's are no walkover and both Wakefield and Leigh (maybe even Toulouse) will very likely feature in them next season, something that no club in the top flight will look forward to.

Correct. Not everything black and white is black and white.
