Time will tell I suppose. Not offering Fox enough came back to bite us on the backside. He was a young lad who had shown potential for a year and we wouldn't match what another club had offered. Two years later he was playing for England. The same may not happen with Gledhill of course and it may be another Southernwood situation. But it probably means we will need to find another prop for the squad now while Trout & Spiers continue to develop as Gledhill was physically ahead of these two. Bearing in mind we needed another prop even if Ben had stayed then with whats available on the market Nick Fozzard becomes a possibility all of a sudden and that is a scary thought.
He's somewhere in-between for me, so to compare him to either is just wrong.
Fox was a first team regular showing much promise on a regular basis, Gledhill isn't really at that level.
Southernwood thought he was better than he was and he got the Bulls to think that as well.
The Gledhill that burst onto the scene for us was a very exciting prospect but seems to have got lost somewhere.
A few enlightened posters have mentioned physical development or lack of it in some of our younger players, it will be interesting to see how Ben develops at Salford and indeed if things change here post JK.
