You do realise that it isn't the council that is selling the ground don't you?
Oh and there's absolutely no point in protesting in the city either. It will achive the sum total of nowt, in fact it will probably just give Box another stage to state his case to the vast majority of the city who, lets be honest, couldn't give two hoots about Wakefield Trinity and would agree that the council shouldn't spend a dime on us.
As a Wakefield ratepayer I don't think that the council should spend any money on us, however I do believe they have a legal obligation to actually do their jobs and enforce the s106 agreement that was signed, allowing the development on greenbelt land.
It does appear that Yorkcourt have well and truly shafted us, but in a way that is no surprise, as a private developer their primary concern is making money and keeping their shareholders happy. The real scandal here is that the local council have the responsibility to enforce the planning laws, and given the lengthy and costly public inquiry that took place, and the resulting approval for the development on the proviso that community facilities were provided under the s106 agreement, then it is their complete shirking of that responsibility that is bordering on criminal.
Apologies if this has been asked and answered before but why is the Office of the Secretary of State not kicking up a stink - What was the point of that public inquiry if nobody then enforces the decisions it makes???
OK, so if Belle Vue is not fit for purpose and there is nothing on the horizon as far as a new stadium or re-developed BV, is it not time for the club to formally say so and either give the fans a run down of the choices available or, tell us that next season we will be playing at Dewsbury. Perhaps, even though it may not be what everybody wants, it's time to let the fans know what's happening and work towards the final game at the old ground. What would be mickey poor, would be to play our last home game, against Hull FC and leave the place without a celebration/memorial for the last 144 years being properly recognised. It would be an appropriate time to get the place full and enjoy BV for one last time, rather than read about it's impending demolition in the local rag.

The problem is that even if newcold had been deemed to be included in the original planning application, the trigger to build the stadium would still at the time of writing not have been met, so nothing yet for the council to enforce (or at least that would be their argument)
I am still of the view that YC would build up to just below the trigger point and walk away or wait until they could find a way to get around the s106 before doing anything above the trigger point
] Call me a cynic but, is there any possibility that we are being set up to be the "fall guy" if certain club(s) end up in a relegation spot. I know that we were being given dispensation by the RFL to play at a "below SL standard" ground and that this was said to only be a short term thing but, will Huddersfield's superior ground save them once again ? In saying this, it's difficult not to acknowledge that BV is clearly the bottom of the pile, followed by The Jungle (incidentally, there are some issues with their own new stadium as there is supposed to be some kind of archaeological "find" on their proposed site).
Huddersfield a superior ground???
It's a terrible ground. Would rather watch RL at BV any day, even in the state that its in, than at the featureless concrete jungle of the John Smith's stadium.

Superior in the sense that it is modern with decent facilities. I didn't say that it was a better place to watch RL There is nothing worse than any ground when its less than 1/2 full and lacking any atmosphere (regardless of how comfy the seats are) The John Smiths Stadium is great, when it's full for International games (beating the Kiwis there a few seasons ago was excellent) but, Shudds will never fill the place and give me a decrepit BV over their place all day long. However, in the eyes of the RFL, they (Shudds) have a modern, fit for purpose stadium and we, sadly, dont.
So will newcold be the only business/ warehouse on the Newmarket site or can other units be built ?
As newcold was treated as a separate planning application, I believe they could build another 59,999 square foot before obligation to build stadium would be triggered
This is like deja vue this! We had this discussion last year and the year before that...we don't want to share with castleford' none existent new stadium, if it's the last game at Belle Vue it wants a proper send off, York Court have done us over . We will find out soon what's happening next year, wait and see!
