Tbf apart from Leigh, which is to be expected, there's been little movement from any of the Clubs. Leeds haven't signed anyone apart from that Hooker they brought over from Aus, Wigan have signed 3, Cas have signed Greg Eden, Wire signed 2, Saints 2, Hull 3. Haven't heard anything from Widnes, Hudds, Salford. So apart from Leigh who've signed 5 I think, we've brought in 4 so far, the 2nd most. It looks like there's going to be a fair bit of movement from teams in the next month or so. I mean the season hasn't ended till after tomorrow.

Also did TRB say that?

It may well be that we'd have signings 'in the bottom drawer'. It may well be that we have waited until the MPG to see what might be available.

It is also possible that the uncertainty about the CC3 and more recently if anything is going on with Scott Moore (we don't know that this isn't twaddle at this stage), but our main focus was a half back initially and we got that sorted - for a year at least - but there it would seem to undermine the work getting a HB if we then don't have a quality hooker and we are, effectively, back at square one, be that by accident or otherwise.

IMO we need to keep Fifita, but at what cost? I don't know what's happening, but we need this kind of blockbusting prop, in addition to the more workhorse types, and if it isn't going to be Dave, then we need to find another. There is no point in having 6 props all the same - again IMO.

The situation with Tupou is more complicated. I think he's been a great player and his touch and game are quality, but his body doesn't want to know and he is the key to a decent chunk of our playing budget. Perhaps one thing needs to happen before anything else can. If he goes, we then need a new second row who can play a bit - not easy to find on a restricted budget!

The other dynamic is the younger players. I expect James Batchelor and Jordy Crowther to play more games next year. Add Judah and young Moules and you get a few more games. We need these exposed to first team rugby for long term benefit.

It's all very complex, but until a few more pieces are put in place I think we are short of a full picture and with players getting signed up everyday, it can't be getting easier.

We had an 8 week window where we were safe in SL but 4 SL clubs plus the Championship clubs couldn't offer that security. We did well to pick up MCB in that time, but we suspect Keegan was coming anyway. We also rescued Grix from Shudds, but whether he was leaving there anyway, I don't know. It seems like slim pickings in the circumstances.

Perhaps I just need to stop thinking / worrying as there is nothing I can do to change it - and I do know there are those who are working their socks off to sort it. Good luck to them!

This for me sums it up.
Got a few players signed and we also extended contracts earlier in the season, so it seems like nothing is happening because we have had plenty of time to plan, whereas in past seasons,we have been frantically trying to re sign our existing squad, before delving into the open market.
Think everyone knows that if Fifita signs, we still need another prop.
If A.Tupou stays or goes, CC has already said he wants another back rower.
The halves are sorted.
If the Moore situation is true, then CC will know without being told, that this area now needs looking at.
We are dual reg with Dewsbury and they have signed the young hooker Ward that was released by Leeds a couple of years ago.
There's O'Brien at Bradford and probably a few more that are on CC's radar.
For what it's worth, I think BOJ04's post about Finn slotting in at hooker, is probably his most sensible post to date!
As for people dismissing Addy, he is a 'utility' player who can play various positions and a club like Wakey needs these sorts of players, if they are looking to cut quantity for quality.

Leeds have signed prop Jack Ormondroyd from Fev ..

So if he gets to play for the Whinos, rather than staying on dual reg at Post Office Road, then there could be a disgruntled prop up for grabs ??

Anthony Mullally back, anyone ???......I would :D

Yes, I would also take him back.

Here is another thought regarding hooker, but not 100% certain.

If Anthony Tupou does retire, and that would free up a lot of room on the cap we think and a quota spot, then how about Wallace or even Soward as hooker.

Wallace has re invented himself there, and I think Soward has played there also.

I have just looked at the same site I was looking at when we were in the hunt for a half back.

There are quite a few hookers here that are coming off contract this year in the NRL, including 2 from Canberra.

Quite a few, are rather young, and not loads of game time

http://www.zerotackle.com/rugby-league/ ... tion-2016/

Any thoughts?

I'd have him back but imo he's a better player than Ormondroyd anyway. Wouldn't be surprised if he's just a back up at Leeds that stays at Feath on Dual Reg.

Yes there probably isn't the money for two quality props, a creative second rower and an NRL standard hooker unless a big earner or two leaves..

Kurt Baptiste out of those that I've seen. Doubt we could afford him, unless something did happen with Tupou. I thought he'd signed an extension at Canberra though. Mitch Rein's a good player, Leeds were after him before they got Segeyaro. Dude was on $450k last year at St. George, that's way out of our price range, even if he took a pay cut. Matt Srama's a decent player as well. hull KR went after him a couple of years ago but he stayed in the NRL.
