Out of interest what was the offer? Having a home, albeit in the championship, is a far greater outcome than a nomadic existence or no club at all.
This. If that offer was put on the table i'd be all over it, how we pay for any improvements can come later. At least the club would still be there even if in the lower league.
I've always thought that because of where it is Newmarket would lose as many fans as it gained anyway and would become a white elephant due to our small supporter base. To play outside the city would be even worse. But the build it and they will come tactic is flawed, look at Salford and Huddersfield as examples. Without a major sugar daddy which would solve all problems anyway i feel we are destined for the championship whatever the state of our stadium, providing we still actually have a club. In 2 or 3 years time it will be two leagues of 10 with 1 up 1 down and we will be in the 2nd tier and Belle Vue will be fine for that. Then in the future who knows, but we will at least have an asset.
