Couple of bits that spring to mind...
Powell never felt at home at Wire.
He was tasked with changing the culture of entitlement...told the owners what what that would do...
Players who were told they wouldn't be staying then de-stabilised the squad, caused rifts...
Said he would never do that again.
Powell/Mills said that at Wire, big club, but everything done by committee...at Wakefield = one Boss = Ellis.
Mills said loads of signings, that would excite fans made for next year and that Ellis would like to announce them all now, but (with a few digs a few clubs), we would stick to protocol and announce in due course.
Loads of plans for stadium - Rollin Shack defo done this closed season, wants terrace in front of S/Stand. Planning going in for W/Stand (but didn't really say what).
Changed his mind on N/Stand - originally envisaged concessions at top, but now realises it delivers most demand for spectator numbers, so will maximise terrace.
No point improving back of NS, until the the area can be done as a whole. Would be a waste of money.
Talking to WMDC about developing a training base.
Previous owners misled about what the pitch could handle through winter. They also signed crap deals (Sheff Weds U21s), which Ellis has cancelled.
Has asked WMDC to explain why Cas have been facilitated with a "better" S106" agreement.
Mills - pressured RFL to change interpretation on Rodwell/Uele's UK eligibility.
Rules changed - Rodwell signed next day, despite SL interest. Rodwell honoured his word to the club.
Powell - Rodwell and Uele are SL standard already.
Mills - agents now contact club saying "player x wants to come to you". Previously, no-one wanted to know.
